Players You Forgot Were Ever Cowboys

Todd Christiansen....5 time Pro Bowler, 2 time 1st team All Pro for the Oakland Raiders was drafted in the 2nd round by the Dallas Cowboys as a fullback.

Steve Deberg, QB passed for over 34,000 yards in an 18 year career, he is ranked 28th all time in passing yardage. Tony Romo is ranked 30th, Troy Aikman is ranked 32nd......Steve was a 10th round draft pick for the Cowboys in 1977.

Steve DeOssie, LB for the SB champion Giants in the early 90's was a 4th round draft pick of the Cowboys in the 1984 draft. His son, Zack DeOssie is a 2 time Pro Bowler as a special teamer and also a SB champion for the New York Giants....currently still active.

......and the Cowboys drafted future NBA coaching great Pat Riley in the 11th round of the 1967 draft as a WR.

A Cowboy play you never forget.......did he ever comment WHY he dropped such easy pass?
I can’t remember what Smith said about the play, but Staubach said that because Smith was so wide open, he (Roger) threw the ball a little softer than he normally would’ve, which may have affected Smith’s timing on the catch.

In an interview, Staubach explains the play was practiced from the, I think, 2 yard line. In the game, they called it from the 10.
Therefore, yes, he threw it too soft... as you said.

The class of Roger Staubach... to take blame for another HoF player on his most humiliating play of his career
and the only play he's remembered for (Smith). Just pure class from Staubach.
