I know there are some great guitar players out there (like Juke100), NYC, and others that don't chime in.

However, there is something that is very strange about practice.

No matter where I practice, in the house, in the recording studio (home), or outside...wherever there are cats, they come out to listen!

Yes, cats.

I own cats, my neighbors own cats, and some of the guys that I play with have cats...and everytime, and I mean everytime I practice around the house, or practicing at a friend house that has cats...the cats come down to listen and just lay around!

If I'm on the acoustic guitar in the garage, here come my neighbors cats!:D

It's the strangest phenom..phenonon...phenomon...damnest thing I have ever wonderd about.

Other guitar players have the same effect on cats. I wonder what that is?

Now, I can understand why cats listen to me...because my guitar playing sounds like cats in heat. But, I have friends that I jam with that have cats, and their cats do the same kind of behavior.

And to top if off...I live in Utah, so I'm not a Nashville Cat. ;)

I'm looking at two of them right now...waiting for me to start practicing again!

Any other guitar players, banjo, mandolin, and most any other string instruments ever have that happen to them?

My guess would be the vibrations from the guitar.

Maybe they're mourning the fact, that you're using the guts of their dead family members, to pluck away at your devil music for your own twisted pleasure?

CAT MURDERER!!!

What vibrations?

Can cats feel that? Or do they just hear the pitch of the sounds? Cats have really good hearing.

It's funny, Yeag...and it's kind of creepy at the same time!

No, I've advanced to modern technology and get my strings from Guitar Center.

God this is so open for a comment that might get me banned... :p
Just think of Gene Simmons' reason for playing an instrument and joining a band.

I think he was referring to the name the cats share with certain, ahem, lady parts. Isn't that why people start playing guitar? If you're doing it for the love of music, you'd play the cello.

So you have been playing cat scratch fever by ted nugent.:p:

Definitely a better sign than all living things running away from your playing at top speed.....

But they sure do come
I hope they comin' for me
And I don't know how they do it
But they sure do it good
I hope they doin' it for free

They give me cat scratch fever
Cat scratch fever

The first time that I got it
I was just ten years old
I got it from some kitty next foor
I went and see the Dr. and
He gave me the cure
I think I got it some more

They give me cat scratch fever
Cat scratch fever

It's nothin dangerous
I feel no pain
I've got to ch-ch-change
You know you got it when you're going insane
It makes a grown man cryin' cryin'
Won't you make my bed

I make the ***** purr with
The stroke of my hand
They know they gettin' it from me
They know just where to go
When they need their lovin man
They know I do it for free

They give me cat scratch fever
Cat scratch fever
