Playmaking defender needed

I think the odds of getting Earl Thomas are good, who will be a playmaker. But the key is Irving and DLaw being on the field for 16 games and Maliek Collins being healthy. Taco Carlton will likely start next year and be an 8-10 sack player.

Jaylon Smith, Awuzie, Xavier Lewis and Jourdan Lewis will all be better with another year's experience.

Put all that together and you will get more defensive plays.

I'm hoping Jaylon becomes the player he was in college, but at the moment,I think we still need a pass rusher in the middle who can collapse the pocket.Hopefully the FO addresses that next week.

I think this team is one playmaking defender away from a Super Bowl. That is why I wanted Earl Thomas. Do we have that guy on the roster today? Who can it be?

When I think of playmakers in the secondary, I think take aways. ET is not what he used to be in that regard. 2 Int's in 2017, 2 in 2016. Do we have a 2 int guy on the roster? Yep and some with potential for more than that IMO

I'm thinking that if Tank can repeat his 2017 performance, Irving can improve on his and stay on the field and Taco can kick in 5-6 sacks, this D will be good enough to win games with a young secondary and a year of experience. My question mark on the D is LB'er. I like what I'm hearing with Jaylon but I don't live in a fantasy world and believe Lee will play 16 games. We NEED depth at LB'er in a big way and we know what happens with Roddy's scheme when Lee isn't in. Wil is the key to his scheme

Vander Esch could fill Mike and allow Jaylon to go to will if Lee is out. I don't have faith that Jaylon is a Mike, but he's the only one the Cowboys have at this point. Need more size at mike even if Smith is there...

:hammer:

Huge concern. It was absurd, the increased amount of points and yards, that were given up during his departure last season.

For sure. We got big time gashed by running backs when Lee was out. Lee is a brilliant football guy, just knows how to play the game, read and react. Which LB'er that is in the draft I have no idea

I do like the thought of Jaylon at Wil. I've said that many times, I think he's our Wil of the future. Yep' I'm starting to like Vander esch
