Posted this in another thread, figured I'd post it here for easier access for people looking for a playoff breakdown.

Here's the breakdown:

Scenario 1: Cowboys win out - Host Eagles in the wild card round, either as the #3 or #4 seed, depending on what happens in the Pack Cards game.

Scenario 2: Cowboys beat Skins and lose to Eagles, Giants win out - Cowboys OUT of the playoffs

Scenario 3: Cowboys beat Skins and lose to Eagles, Giants lose 1 - Cowboys go to Philly as #6 seed

Scenario 4: Cowboys lose out - Cowboys OUT of playoffs (unless Giants lose 2, then we go to Philly as #6 seed).

Some people thought the Cowboys could host the Pack in the wildcard round. That is not possible. The reason for this was because the Yahoo Playoff Scenario Generator hadn't updated to inclue the proper wins and losses from today's late games and that tricked some people.

Could be wrong with all this, but I think it's accurate. Correct me on any mistakes.

Looks like we're either playing the Eagles 2 weeks in a row or not playing playoff football at all.

EDIT: The Cowboys can in fact host the Packers in the first round. The reason I missed it was because it requires the Packers to lose to the Seahawks. Needless to say, I didn't run that scenario, ha. Let me just revise this and the say the above scenarios are the 4 MOST LIKELY scenarios, and not the ONLY scenarios.

EDIT 2: After looking at all the scenarios, I think both the Cowboys Eagles and Packers Cardinals play in back to back weeks, week 17 and wildcard weekend. Is that the first time that has ever happened, both conference wildcard games being back-to-backs?

I don't see how it's not possible. Dallas can easily be the #3 while GB is #6. The 4/5 scenario works as well.

if we win out and they lose out we play them at home... need help from the giants too, but it can happend

WIN OUT should be the only scenerio Dallas should be thinking about.

The only ways we dont get the eagles is

Seattle beats greenbay or the the cardinals lose to saint louis. Either of these has to happen.

This is if we win out and take the division.

if we are 1-1 and it would take philli 1-1 with the loss to us and also arizona losing to greenbay then we would get green bay. (in this scenario greenbay would actually have the best record of the group.

That is the only scenarios that I can come up.

All other combinations put us out unless the giants lose.

It is gonna be a crazy last two weeks but most likely we get philli again.

I think it's still possible for us to get a bye. Not sure but if the Vikings lose out and we win out then we both have 11-5 records. Not sure what the tiebreaker would be there but we're supposed to still be in it.

We can get the bye, but I believe AZ would have to lose as well (possibly to GB?)

If that happens the Cowboys would win the tie-breaker over the Vikings because that would mean the Cowboys Conference record would be 9-3 and the Vikings Conference record would be 8-4. Even if that happens the Cowboys still might not get the first round bye because if the Cardinals win their next 2 games they would be 11-5 with a Conference record of 9-3. I am not sure who would win the tie-breaker between the Cowboys and the Cardinals in that case.

I was arguing with my dad a little bit ago about this. He was saying we'll play GB in the first round, basically no matter what, because the NFL doesn't let divisional opponents play against each other on Wildcard Weekend.

But lots of people on here seem to think we are going to play Philly. What's the deal?

If you play around with that playoff generator thing, many scenarios point to a Philly @ Dallas, or Dallas @ Philly game.

What is your dad thinking? #1 and #2 get byes, #3 plays #6 and #4 plays #5 no matter what the teams are (same conference of course).
