With the division being the way it is, I think it is very realistic that it plays out like it has so many times in the past. We are 8-7 going into the final game of the season with a chance to win the division. The only differences being the obvious talent makeover of this team, their mental fortitude, and the maturity of their head coach. No doubt if given the opportunity will come through at home against Washington.

We will only have to go 7-7 the rest of the season, which is entirely possible. We also have two huge wins within the division already.

The crappy part is we really cannot sustain any more major injuries. Any key defensive players that might go down could spell disaster. We are teetering on the edge and just need to hold this thing together until at the very least Dez comes back, and then of course Romo.

.500 ball the rest of the way and we might be able to get a division crown and creep on into the playoffs as a 4 seed. I'm getting way ahead of myself, I know, but I just need to be able to hold onto some positive thoughts after these injury ridden last two weeks.

What a rough 2-0 start we are off to, it's crazy we lose two key pieces back to back

Anyone else think 9-7 will win the division?

I think 8-8 might take it.

I seem some parallels here to the Packers 2013 season where Rodgers missed 8 games with a broken clavicle yet the Packers still made the playoffs with a 8-7-1 record because the rest of the division (A) sucked and (B) of the games the Packer did win that season, the majority of them were against NFC and division opponents.

The Romo injury is what makes me see the parallels here.

Yeah if we can win our remaining 4 division games it would be locked up. I don't think Dez or Romo will be back by the next Giants or Eagles game though. Gonna be tough

What if we beat Atlanta , and then the Saints ? we're 4-0 . Lets see what happens next week first but i think 9-7 could win the division.

Possible. They might not have Tevin Coleman. If we can hold that offense down a bit we could be able to run the ball on them.

Was about to post...it will come down to win and in for us and the Commanders, and the game is here this year.
We will be at full strength and on a roll.

I think everyone needs to stop assuming a 9-7 type record or we just have to go 4-4, 3-5 in these next 8 games. The team is definitely not thinking this way. Why not shoot for 12-4, 11-5 or better. it doesn't have to be 'let's just get by mentality'. Go out there and try to win every game. i want this team to be aggressive offensively and defensively even with Tony/Dez out.

Their offense is not that great. I think people are overrating it a little bit. Julio is awesome but they aren't an offense that just wakes up scoring 30 points a game. They had 10 towards until the 4th quarter and if Eli doesn't fumble deep in Atl territory that game is a little bit different.

Why? Because it's not realistic. We're not the same team without our two best offensive players and our short term record will most likely reflect that.

I agree. Their defense is improved, but we could still hang over 20 on them. Its all up to our Oline on offense.

True we are not the same team without Romo and Dez. Players will need to help carry the load and defense will have to keep us in games and defense should only get better once Hardy, McClain and Gregory return. As for Weeden I think he can be a very capable QB if players around him step up

How do you know it's not realistic. Can you tell what's going to happen in the future? No you can't. Just let the games play out and see what happens. If they end up going 9-7 then so be it but right now they are 2-0 and don't need to set a ceiling. I'm glad you aren't my head coach 'hey guys our starting QB is out and we have some other key injuries why don't we see if we can go 9-7'. Awesome. Give me a break.
