Playoff Seeding Scenario

Well, then be a party pooper then.

I'm way worse than that. I grew up in Detroit and, as is my lot in life, a Lions fan. Have you seen all the different ways they've been able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?

Cowboys chances for #1 seed come down to Vikings @ Packers next week.

Divisional rivalry, Vikings fighting for their playoff lives, it's not a gimme game for the Packers.. obviously they already lost to the Vikings in Minnesota.

I do believe Jaire Alexender returns this week and the Packers will stick him on Jefferson. Will be an interesting matchup.

True , but we need to win our rest of the games too and let chips fall . No brainfarts against Cardinals or Phillthy. Cardinals are fighting to get back in the division , So wont be cakewalk and philly game can be a toss up ( less gocus as division is wrapped up and philly may be playing to get into playoffs )

Minnys chances depend on Cook having a monster game and Kirk doesnt screw up like Mayfield y’day.

Closest city I could relate to growing up was Philly, and as in my lot in life with my family, grew up an Eagles fan lmao!

As I've gotten older, came to the conclusion that football is a business. Is the NFL really that much different than the WWE? The key word being "ENTERTAINMENT".

I've said this before on this site. If the fans ever conclude that the NFL is merely entertainment, it'll be the beginning of the end for them... There are much cheaper alternatives for a few hours of entertainment than what they offer.

Our best bet at this point is for us, Rams, and Bucs win out so we can get the two seed.

That would give us a first round matchup of the Vikings or Eagles and then we would host the winner of the 3/6 Matchup (Rams vs 9ers)
None of the teams mentioned in your post have qualified for the playoffs yet.
Only Green Bay and Dallas are definitely in at this time (3pm EST / 2pm CST/ 1pm CST / 12pm PST).

The issue with that line of thinking is it doesn't sell tickets.

Just look at Rutgers who at 5-7 got into a bowl game. All the Rutger fans act like they belong there and are willing to spend money to go see them play. Personally, if "my" team was 5-7, no way should you even consider a gift because you were not good enough.

I'm a Penn State graduate and will even admit the only reason why they are bowl bound this year on a prime TV spot is because they have the loyal fan following and the "Bowl people" know that the fans will spend the money.

Perhaps this is how our society goes with everything else as well settling for being average....

I think we're agreeing.

Actually that is not totally correct because if we end up with the same record with Tampa, they are going to be ahead of us. The only way we are on top of them is a three way tie.

Not only us, the Cowboys and the Rams need to win out, as well.
If we end up in a tie with TB even though they beat us we have the better divisional record so we would win the tiebreaker.

Unfortunately not. The first tiebreaker is the game against each other. When there are three or more teams into a tie, then the divisional record wins the tie.

According to ESPN right now we are the #2 seed

Yes, because right now we're in a three-way tie at 11-4 with LAR and TB. We need that to hold in order to remain the #2 seed. If LAR loses a game (quite likely) and we finish tied with TB at 13-4, TB will take the #2 seed based on the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Edit: Of course, if GB also loses a game and finishes tied with us and TB at 13-4, we'd win the tiebreaker based on best conference record and take the #1 seed. Bottom line is that we lose in a tie to TB (but no other team) but win in any tie between 3 or more teams.

I actually don't mind the Cowboys with the 2nd seed.... coming in on a roll, i don't want them sitting and waiting 14 days to play again. Who cares who the opponent is. Keep it going and knocking heads.

Music fans pay obscene amounts of money for concerts, a decent seat at a baseball game is pretty expensive, though you can get into the stadium cheaply. NBA tickets are astronomically high.

No, people will keep paying to watch America’s most popular sport and it’s already considered entertainment. When I go to a Falcons game, I don’t really care if the Falcons win unless they’re playing a rival of the Cowboys. I go to watch the game, to be entertained on a Sunday afternoon. I also end up buying tickets for my daughter and S-I-L, so the games cost me a few hundred. Can’t take it with me……

I agree. Playing a one dimensional Eagles team at Jerrah”a dome would be great. I just have a feeling the Rams will lose to the Ravens and screw the seeds up. We are destined to get the 3 seed.

That's a big "if" folks. I think we need to tap the breaks a bit.

People talking about #1 or #2 seed and we're playing with a QB and #1 RB that for whatever reason, seem to have lost their edge.... an o-line that's nicked up and can't figure out who their left guard is, and a crap-shoot for a kicker among other issues.

Ask Cardinal fans how they feel right now as opposed to a month ago.
Cardinals fans: "Our team has lost three games in a row, including getting destroyed by Detroit, and we fell out of the division lead. By Football Outsiders' DVOA, we've dropped from 5th to 10th over that time. We feel terrible about our team right now."
Cowboys fans: "Our team has won four games in a row, not one of which was all that close. We won our last game by 46 points. We clinched our division in the process. By Football Outsiders' DVOA, we rose from 5th to 1st over that time. We feel terrible about our team right now."

Teams can run on the packers.. If the vikings have a run game then they have a chance..

Three way tie with Dallas, TB, LA......I believe Dallas would be the 2 seed correct? Based on conference record since the Rams and Cowboys haven’t played?

I'm hoping GB drops a game. I think we'll be 1 seed in a 3 or more team tie. We only have 1 conference loss.
