Question: Is there a TV/jumbotron type of area outside the stadium to watch games?

My girlfriend, sister and I are likely going to try and go down for the NFC Championship game. (Yes, I'm confident.) I'm game to spend a couple hundred on tickets, but my girlfriend and sister will likely balk at that. My plan would be to tailgate with them all day, and then go in solo while they stay outside. I seem to recall there being an area outside the stadium to congregate and watch the game. Am I right on this?

Yes, there is an area that has jumbo tron screens.. but you have to have a ticket to get inside the gates where they are. It's possible to watch them from a distance though. You might just want to buy a parking pass in lot 11 and then just tailgate and watch the game outside. Bring a TV with you. There will be others doing the same thing.

I'm willing to pay what it will take to be close enough to watch the game on the field, not the screen. Am I best off waiting until they go on sale or should I buy now on ticket exchange? Right now its looking like 400+ to get decent seats.

Wait till the 28th but you'll need to log in as soon as they go on sale.

You might as well buy them on NFL ticket exchange because the small amount of tickets left (after the ST holders get theirs) will be gone in less than 10 minutes.
