I always hear posters say that they want to win 1 playoff game.

I gotta ask, does that really matter to you? Would you be satisfied with the season if you went out today like Philly? Would it really mean something to you tonight that your team won 2 playoff games? Would you wake up with a smile- sad that you lost but satisfied?

Not me.

Thanks...but living through "The Catch" and other devastating losses- I can tell you nothing replaces the agony the eagle fans feel right now.

So close, so far.

The feeling of losing stinks. But I would like to know what it is like ti feel like my team has a chance to go to the Super Bowl!!! It is better to have a chance than not to make the playoffs at all

So many here have never experienced a SB or NFC Champ game loss.

Hope they don't have to.
So many here have never experienced a SB or NFC Champ win either.

You begin to wonder if we're going to become oddities like World War One veterans.

"Hey that over there is your great-great-granpappy, he's so old he actually saw the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl!".

Yeah I never understood the argument of winning a playoff game either. I don't see how getting ur butt kicked the next week after a playoff win would really make things any better...particularly with this specific Dallas team. Anything below a Super Bowl win is disappointing and that 1994 loss in SF still haunts me so I can't really imagine what losing 4 NFC Championships in a decade would do to me. I dont really know an Eagles fan that I like, however, so I can't be sympathetic.

Nope.

I expect Dallas to win the Super Bowl every year, as seasons unfold, you kinda curb your expectations, but I always have faith going in, even when QC,Chad hutchinson, Vinny, and Drew Bledsoe were running the offense.

I don't want to see one playoff win, I want a Super Bowl, and I want it now.

Seeing Philly lose today, man that really made me feel good again, though. If theres one thing that makes me feel a little better after a failed regular season, it's gotta be seeing Donavan "the tall midget" McNabb waddling off the field in another failed attempt at bringing that armpit of a city a Super Bowl victory.

This isn't the 70s or 90s guys. If your team hasn't won a single playoff game in more than a decade, winning a single playoff game does matter! Especially in the development of the team.

Had we won in Seattle, I'd bet last year's team would've been better off.

Do you think the 1992 team would have been better off for the Championship run if they just lost to the Bears in the wildcard and not felt the bitterness of getting blown out against the Lions?

Gotta start somewhere.

In an ideal world, no. Winning 1 playoff game doesn't matter.

In a world where your team hasn't proved to be capable team in about 12 years, then yes, winning 1 playoff game is something to be sought after.

Winning a single playoff game in a vacuum is pointless.

However, I think it makes a huge difference to this team given its situation.

They haven't won one in years. It's a big monkey they need to get off their backs. Especially Romo. Until they do, that's the one fact we're going to keep hearing about and that they're going to be asked about repeatedly. This year, I think even a wild card win would have done wonders for some of these guys (I say some, because I believe there's more than a few who couldn't care less).

I'm with you. This whole "let's win a playoff game first" crap is not something I never say. Let's win the SB. Obviously you have to win playoff games to get there, but 1 or 2 wins in the playoffs is not very satisfying. I think the Rams hadn't won a playoff game in like 10 years and then they went on to the SB and won. What we've done over the past decade means nothing. Every year is different and this team should have it's sights set high again next year. They just need to work hard and play to the final whistle without giving games away with offensive and defensive collapses at the end. That's it. Despite being very banged up, we were in position to win against the Ravens, Steelers and Cards. Don't tell me that there is some big gap between us and the "best" teams in the league. We beat the Eagles and then lost one of those bizarre snowball games where the game got out of control fast (Eagles played very well and Dallas came out flat). Even the staunchest Romo-haters should acknowledge that those defenses over the final month were monsters. Not only do they pressure the QB, but they stop the run making passing that much tougher. Those were tough team losses - let's not put it all on the QB (most QBs have struggled mightily against those D's). If this team cuts down on penalties, protects the ball better (yes that means you Romo - whom I strongly support but acknowledge needs work) and plays competent special teams we beat anyone. Staying a little healthier could only help. After watching these teams over the past couple of weeks I feel frustrated but FAR from hopeless.

Why not? It has been a long, long time since a playoff victory. You gotta break the ice at some point, one would think...

So does not making the playoffs and not having any playoff wins in 13 years mean something to you?

Yeah, I want to have the Cowboys in the playoffs and win games in the playoffs. That means you're in contention and have a chance to win the Super Bowl.

I don't think anyone would be satisfied with only winning one or two games in the playoffs, but you have to start somewhere and it sure beats not having any playoff success.

Thanks, again Jerry.

I guess the question becomes, "is it better to not make the playoffs rather than be one-and-done or two-and-done"???

Personally, I would rather make the playoffs and win an occassional game (even if I never made it all the way to the SB), then to go years and years and years and years and years without a single win in postseason.

Look at it this way, would you rather be the Bills of the 90s and lose 4 straight SBs or be the Cardinals and not even make a SB appearance and have like only 2 or 3 playoff wins in over 60 years???

I would rather go to the playoffs or SB and lose than never go at all, but that is just me.

The NFL should adopt the BCS system so that the Cowboys can win Super Bowls without winning playoff games.

We would have made it last year...
