I can care less about the "cheese", it's the 3K+ I would of got for selling one that I was interested in. I've got a 360 (that I waited till 7 months after launch to purchase) so I'm happy.

Waiting in line for 7+ hourse is a small price to pay for 3K+ and a 500% profit.
I should have made it clearer .. I can totally understand going through the hassle if you're planning to ebay it because that's a sound investment.

Standing in line for hours or days, fighting with other shoppers, etc. just to get it for yourself is stupid IMO. There will be 600,000 more units available before Christmas and probably 1-2 million more by the end of March.

I don't care how bad you want a PS3, if you got one today, I'd sell it in a heartbeat. You can buy you an HDTV and another PS3 within a couple of months with the money you make.

I totally understand where you are coming from, but Sony promised the US 400,000 units and couldnt even make that number for launch. I would be truly surprised if they had more PS3's up their sleeves to ship before x-mas.

I firmly believe that Sony purposely limited shipments for launch day so the media hype would be viral and cause people who are planning to buy a game console before Christmas to think, "It has to be awesome if this many people are fighting to get one."

And like lemmings to a cliff, the mice (people) ran the maze perfectly .. and literally found "the cheese."

That is what they did with the PS2...I knew they would never have a million units ready for launch...they have less than the 400,000 they promised.

I am just going to wait about 6 months.

Yeah, they weren't even close to 400,000. Easily less than half of that. There's no way they get close to a million by the end of the year. They MAY get to that 400,000 mark by the end of the year, but it's nothing close to what they promised. Still, I agree waiting that long is stupid if you're keeping it. The longest I've waited in line is 5 hrs for one I was keeping. And that's about my limit. I was willing to do about 40 hrs. for the PS3 though, to sell it. To me, if you keep it right now, it's pretty much just the same as spending about $3,000 for it, because that's how much you're losing out on.

I was in line at Wal Mart from Wednesday night at 8 till 12:01 Friday morning to get a "rain check". Wal Mart guaranteed 10 60 gig versions of the PS3 and I was #9 in line. However, because Sony didn't send out what they promised, Wal Mart issued "rain checks" to those of the 10 who did not get a 60 gig PS3. The rain check means that I get first dibs on a PS3 from the next shipment that Wal Mart recieves. This is actually better in my opinion because something I suspected pre-launch. Because of the flood of available PS3's for sale on ebay right now, the average they are selling for have dropped back down to $1500-$2000, down from the $3000-$4000 average they hit thursday night. If you do a search on ebay right now, there aren't any on the first page with anymore than 10 minutes left.

Btw, I of course am selling mine.

Also, I don't buy into the Sony is doing this to drive up prices conspiracy theory. Its not in Sony's best interest. I think the main culprit are the Blu-Ray drives. The manufacturing of these drives may not be going as smooth as planned.

Yeah, the price has dropped quite a bit today compared to yesterday. I will get mine later in the week, and will probably hold off on putting it up on ebay. I have a feeling that as Christmas approaches, that demand is going to go back up, maybe even higher than the last couple of days, and there will most definately still be a major shortage, so we may see prices on ebay go above what they did yesterday. At least I hope so.
