Plea deal wouldn't ensure Peterson returns to field
Adrian Peterson currently is considering a plea deal that would reduce his felony charge of injury to a child to a misdemeanor, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports, per a source informed of the running back's thinking. A plea agreement won't ensure a return to the field for the Minnesota Vikings star.
Rapoport reported Monday that Peterson won't be immediately reinstated and active if he takes a plea deal, according to two sources with direct knowledge of his situation. A deal could be presented at Peterson's pre-trial hearing, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Texas.
According to Rapoport, there is a possibility Peterson plays for the Vikings this season, but his status won't change upon acceptance of a plea deal.
