What has BP done to JJ. He seems to have been told not to run outside.
He is only running straight ahead. JJ, forget what BP is telling you and be yourself again. The worst thing a coach can do is try to change the running style of a good RB.

Watching JJ run last year on the Sunday night game against the Giants, he looked like the next coming of gayle sayers.

JJ, please come back.

Yeagh - its all Parcells making JJ do bad things. Same coach that got him rocking last year.

Plese - give it a rest. Fact is Oline is not making holes and teams are cramming the box to stop JJ.

WHOLE NOTHER THREAD ON HOW TO CHANGE THAT TREND.....

WE all share different opinions about JJ.

What the hell is wrong ?

I wish players actually came out and said the truth.....I hate how they just go around the subject and say crap that doesnt tell us anything.

So hey JJ what is wrong with teh running game? <-------- you'll get every answer in the world except the truth.

And yes I'm also talking about BP PC.

We basically have the same OL as last year. Our rookie right tackle is definelty a
improvemnet over last year.

Teams are taking JJ away - knowing we will run it 35 times - simple math

Absolutely, if anything, our OL is BETTER than last year. Rivera is better than Gurode was and Pettiti is much better than Tucker was.
I can't buy that teams are loading up to stop JJ and that's the reason he's being stopped....because end of the year last season EVERYONE knew he was the only threat we had and he still ran roughshod over teams with that WORSE OL.
I think its:
1) JJ running more tentatively
2) JJ is slower this year, bulking up did not help him, he's not hitting the gap like he did last year, he used to explode into/through the OL
3) piss poor playcalling, seems like we only have a Tecmobowl selection of plays.

If anything JJ should be doing tons better because on paper: MUCH better QB and WR corps which = more threats, improved OL, another year under his belt...but he's playing worse than last year.
Possibly, just maybe, our coaches have serious issues with developing talent or putting them in positions to succeed. Seems like we have a few other players whose play has declined since their rookie year with us...the only exception seems to be Witten.
Something's amiss though because the talent is there....there aren't many teams I'd take over ours talent-wise.

Bingo. It's as simple as that.

Everyone and their brother knows Parcells is conservative. We don't have the OL blocking well either.

We HAVE to pass to keep them honest.

I think JJ just needs to hit the hole harder and don't think so much. He looks more tentative this year to me and sometimes gets happy feet behind the LOS.

Sometimes it looks like he running like Troy Hambrick but doesnt have the power to force his way forward.

Tham, JJ - when they are running somewhat hesitant its because the line is getting blown up and they have nowhere to go.

We need to loosen up Front 8 or JJ will continue to jam in there for 3.2 yards per carry......

Friend of mine who is a Packer fan told me we were so lucky to get Marco Rivera, he's a bulldozer, guy is a probowler, you won't be disappointed etc. So far, and maybe I'm not paying close enough attention, Rivera has done squat.

JJ isn't running the same as last year. People can give excuses but he isn't. Period. I watch the games more than once. Funny the only time he looks like himself is when he runs the draw- then he just goes and he looks great. Of course there are times when there are no holes- that happens with every back. But he's not HITTING the holes with the authority he did last year. He's juking around with both hands wrapped around the ball like a goal line play and holes are closing. Or holes are open and he runs into his own blockers butt. Or he gets by the initial line and doesn't make a move- just runs into the tackler. Not the same guy and IMO it isn't because he's "bulked up".

JJ is definately running differently then last year. Last year he would try to make a cut or even run backwards to make something happen when there was nothing in front of him. This year when there is nothing in front him, he just put his head down and run straight forward until he goes down.

If you look at the Oakland game, there were several plays where if he would have stopped and made a cut, he would have had big runs. Instead he just ran staight forward and got 1 or 2 yards instead.

I think someone(BP?) is trying to make him run like Emmit when in reality JJ is more like Barry Sanders.

BP is not making JJ run different - thats silly.

JJ has nowhere to go this year - but he's still on pace for what?

I still think this whole thing is much ado about nothing, Julius has played 3 good run Ds. In Frisco he got a concussion. Before that, he had two good runs. This week Julius may come in and suprise us. But the Iggles have a good run D too. Anyway, eventually down the line Julius will take control of a game, and you guys can breath your sigh of relief.

yes bp is.....i dont know if you realized but bp said that he doesnt want jj taking it to the outside. he said he wants jj to learn that one yard gains are ok...come on. a year does not change how a running back has been running all of his life. but a coach can. BP is the type of coach who has his own philosophy and wants his players to be bp players. He doesnt use the players strengths and work around them...sort of like vick in atl....cowboys will never win with bp at the helm

How do you figure Atlanta doesn't use Vick's strengths? That whole offense is tailored around Vick. Run, run, run, roll out and pass on the run. That's what Vick does best and that's about all Atlanta does.

what i meant was atl does use vicks strengths instead of making him into a pocket qb....thats what i meant..we need to be more like atl....bp would make him sit in the pocket and thorw and since he cant make a 20 yard out and up pass they would trade his *** way to the jets and send him off to rehab..poor quincy
