I know people look at yards to gauge how good the defenses and offenses are playing. I feel the points per play stats are better way to gauge the team.
Here are the current ranks for defense and offense. One thing I noticed is, our offense is much better at home and our defense plays little better away.

For reference here are the stats for last two SB winners.

Tampa Bay Defense(#4) 0.336 Offense(#2) 0.480
Kansas City Defense(#7) 0.311 Offense(#1) 0.485

But bend/don't break defenses would show as top dogs if you went by points per play, wouldn't they? Whereas a defense that gets a lot of turnovers and 3 and outs would suffer in the stats.

Look at the last three games for both..We are peaking at a good time.

I prefer per drive stats over per play. Closer to how the game works.

Points per play will give you a more detail view of how an offense or defense are playing than points per drive. Let say two defenses gave up same number of points on same number of drives. This will give you a same points per drive stat indicating they are playing equally. If the first defense gave up those points making the opposing offense use 40 total plays in those drives vs second defense making the offense use 20 plays, that will give you an indication that the second defense is giving up more chunk plays.

Both defenses are giving up same amount of points per drive, but the first defense is making the offenses work for it more. I can't say which defense is better just looking only at this stat, but at least point per play will give you a more detail idea of how the defenses are giving up points.

Okay, valid point. Yeah, now I don't even know where I was going. lol

This is the first time since (I think) 2007 we had a defense that could legitimately attack defenses. Both by getting sacks and by taking the ball away. Although I don't think the 2007 squad had corners like Brown, Diggs, Lewis and Fat.
