Poll: Cowboys still 'America’s team', Packers slip

The Business Journal of Milwaukee

The Green Bay Packers slipped to sixth according to The Harris Poll's latest pro football poll that found that the Dallas Cowboys are still America’s favorite football team.

When asked to name “America’s favorite team,” respondents ranked the Cowboys first , followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots, according to poll results.

This is the third straight year that the Cowboys came in at No. 1.

Rounding out the top ten were the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Tennessee Titans and the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers, fifth last year, have fallen after holding or tieing for the top spot from 2002 through 2005.

Nearly one in five surveyed (19 percent) predict the Pittsburgh Steelers will win the Super Bowl this year; 17 percent favored the New England Patriots. Just 4 percent picked the Green Bay Packers to win.

Obviously this poll was taken before the season started (looking at those predictions).

When I was in Vegas over the weekend, saw more people wearing Cowboy gear than any other by far. Followed by NE and Steelers, and obviously they have had more recent success. Definitely more women fans wearing Cowboy gear.

The New England fans are bandwagon fans. Where were they when the Pats were bottom dwellers and wearing those old unis.

Even in '85 when they went to the Superbowl against the Bears, I didn't know a single soul who rooted for them. Only fans from the New England area.

Out here in LA theirs no use to going to a sports bar because majority of there games are broadcasted. When they're not broadcasted I end up going to Hooters and the Cowboys fans dominate half of bar.

Pats fans = Celtics fans = Red Sox fans = Bruins fans

They all do that.

all you need to know is that 100,000 plus attended a home game last month and over the last two weeks the cowboys have traveled to two of the most traditional and oldest teams in the league that are known for their home fans.

and in both places there were seemingly as many cowboys fans. You could hear in both stadiums how loud the cheers were when the cowboys made plays in denver and kansas city.

It looked odd to have Bobby Carpenter pumping up the crowd on defense in Kansas City. At first I thought he was just confused about where he was, but the crowd actually got louder.

Ratliff and spears were doing it first. Kristie scales kept talking about it during the game. She said in all her years of calling games she had never seen cowboys players ask for the crowd to get loud on the road and then they did!!!

pretty amazing.

and it makes me giggle at the out of towners here who constantly bash Dallas fans, and use kc as one of the places that is so much better. Last year kc had like 20,000 fans at two of their games.

The tickets craig junior miller who doesnt know a thing about football spent half the morning making fun of carpenter for doing this, saying it was idiotic and embarrassing. Junior miller is completely clueless on football and couldnt recognize the fact that ratliff, spears and hamlin were also doing it. He doesnt listen to the radio broadcast and that is a dis-service to himself also.

Last week junior miller spent a segment calling out crayton for making one of the dumbest plays he has seen when he picked up the already touched by denber punt and went and scored. He didnt know the rule and just rambled on about how crayton could have fumbled inside the 10 and cost them the game.

oh well.

oh and by the way the tcket has dubbed bobby carpenter, the Seagull!!! because all he does is wave his arms looking for the crowd to cheer.
