Poll: The Jake Ferguson Incompletion Turned Interception

Should Ferguson have caught this pass?

Yes, but Dak rifled that ball before he turned. A little touch would have made it easier. That applies to both interceptions.

Dak looked way off, like his arm is shot. He's pushing passes like a shotput at times. That deep ball to CeeDee was about as bad as any pass I've seen in the NFL all season.
This! No QBR or metric will show this, but the eye test on both INTs shows this. Brett Favre was infamous for doing this to his receivers and Holmgren would chew him out for putting the backs and WRs and TEs in tough situations. Tom Brady converted 3 straight 3rd and 10 on the road in the cold in KC to little Edelmann. Dak's pass was high and fast and Ferguson had a guy all over him. You can imagine his legs are shot as its the end of the game, they are driving all 4th quarter and the adrenaline. It was a very tough pass to catch if you know football...but one he has to make given HIS salary and veteran status.

Bro. People would take your dislike of Dak more seriously if you showed some objectivity.

That’s a pass that any paid NFL pass catcher needs to make. It’s not even that hard of a pass for a professional receiver or tight end to make
In real time the pass seemed to be behind Ferg. My opinion. Or are some of us not allowed to have opinions that might be pointing to a not-so-great pass?

There is no scenario in which this is on the QB. I don't care if he shot it out of a t-shirt cannon and the ball was covered in KY. CATCH THE FOOTBALL.

It is incredibly hypocritical standards to say the throw is the problem. Saying that is just starting with "Dak sucks" and working backwards.
I’d argue the drop isn’t on the QB but the INT partially is. You don’t throw high over the middle for this very reason, everyone knows that. Passes 5-20 yards over the middle have to be below shoulder level so if it’s plinko’d it goes down and not up. I think it sailed on Dak a bit

He's a PRO. The ball is right in his face, has to make that catch. If for some reason he can't get a grip, then at least knock it downward, not up in the air. Ferg is having issues for some reason.

I will get the "no" votes started.... You seem to be saying you thought it was a catchable pass, I don't. In real time Ferg is twisting too much to his left because the pass was a bit behind him, not leading like it should have been thrown. Had he caught it it would have been a heck of a catch.

The argument I keep reading is Ferg got his hands on the ball - he should have caught it. To that I would say go run the same play yourself and twist your body the opposite direction you are running and try to make the catch. It's not as easy as some would say. This argument keeps coming from Dak lovers who refuse to hold him accountable for anything, so take that for what it's worth.
You know what? I voted "yes" ...but if we get down to the details...I'm revising my blame to 80% Ferguson, 20% Dak.

In the grand scheme of things, my evaluation as a GM/Coach would be that he choked in that moment and poured too much hot sauce all over the sandwich. As per usual.

Still photos are always so horrible and misleading when used as proof for these types of things. My favorites are when people say "see, he was open" like the QB gets the benefit in a real life NFL game situation at full speed of a still photo showing that split second of where everyone is"

That being said, of course he should have caught it, why is this a poll?
If nothing else it will help weed out the trolls.

I vote yes...it was a tougher catch than it needed to be, but in the end he should have caught it. I blame Dak for even throwing it to him at that stage in the game. He was terrible the whole game and the only play he made was the on 4th down. Other than that he was a disaster. Dak was off target all night and his mechanics were as bad as I've seen them.

Still...should have been caught.

yes, good players make plays. this was a catchable ball. was it a little fast. yes, but SO WHAT. "OMG, it was hard and it bounced off my hands and my little pinky got hurt. ouchy"
is expectations, Dak walks the ball down and puts it in his belly!! and then gives him a pat...even if Dak did that, he would probably fumble it anyways!!

QBs throw at different angles and different speeds. and this was continuation of Fergi problems. he fumbles too much, which tells me he has trouble holding on to the ball. and he dropped another easy pass earlier in the game. he has been pretty bad lately and started middle of last year.

in real time, the ball bounces and he twists back to see it. in the picture its clear the ball is right in the middle of his two hands in perfect position to catch it.
he is a 10M a year TE. make the damn catch. or is expectations for Dak to walk it up, put it in his belly, hug him, give him a pat and say good job!!! in that case he would probably fumble it.
this is a routine play for any good reciever.

lets not forget, he dropped a pass earlier in the game.
lets not forget he has had fumbling issues.
lets not forget he has dropped passes this year several times.

this is a trend with fergi. whatever he had, he has lost and he is playing without confidence.

and btw, he is a 10M a year TE. I am not. other TEs routinely make this catch..

and this argument comes from Dak haters who want to blame 100% of everything on Dak. and if anyone doesn't criticize dak 365x24x60x60, then they are Dak lovers... the DDS logic

Dang it, @Coogiguy03! If I have told you once, I have told you a thousand times: only vote in polls BEFORE your seventh cup of coffee of the day!
