Pollard doesn't believe he was really back from injury until midseason

Cowboys RB Tony Pollard said Thursday that, at start of season, he was still working through his January leg fracture more than he realized. On where leg is now: "I would say it's a night and day difference. You think you're good. You think you're all the way back until you're actually out there making plays, full speed, feeling it. Once you get a feel for it and get your feet under you, then you start to realize, 'Oh, so I may have lost a little right there.' But I'm picking it back up."

Believes he really moved past injury "halfway through the season, a little bit after the bye week, something like that. I started to feel like I was starting to get into the groove of things."

He's got his confidence back and it's been noticeable, his play has definitely improved. Steele looks better as the season has gone on too, he still has those moments, but overall looks improved over the early part of the season.

His YPC in the two games before averaging 4.7 against Buffalo last Sunday on just 11 carries was 3.7 and 3.4. I'm not sure the NFL cares.

I kept saying it would take him sometime to heal, and certain posters kept telling me his injury wouldn't require protracted healing time, and he would be back 100 percent by the first game.

Dallas has had ONE 100yd rusher in the last 21 games (Last was Week 3 vs ARI)

It's not just Pollard... this team has a rushing problem. And it makes things harder for Dak and the OLine.

I'd LOVE LOVE to see a shift in scheme even now at this point of the season

If he's healthy, he needs to prove it and run hard and scare defenses

We are all aware of the horrible start to the season. McCarthy ran the preseason offense playbook. Now with the new offense and Pollard healthy things are improving. That being said...........

The Cowboys are currently 12th in the league at rushing. Clearly the Cowboys do not have a rushing problem.

Remember all off season those who said he would never be the same, might be a career ender, couldn't be counted on, would be the cause of the Cowboys downfall this year, couldn't understand the Cowboys didn't draft a RB early or sign a vet???

I tried tell ya'll to take your hand off the panic button.

We probably still need to draft a 3 down back early next year with Pollard on the franchise tag.

Yeah, the first three steps just weren't there until recently.
Of course, last weeks run blocking was horrific.

It's noticeable last few games. He's running with more authority, especially up the middle. Almost feel like it's on the coaches now. They should have given run game more plays in Buffalo for example.

People acting like Pollard is useless this year especially coming off an injury. He was still a top 10 back entering last week and has looked great the last several weeks even though the numbers don't jump out at you. Why looking at stats at face value is meaningless debate.

He's been getting crushed with holding peanlities. There was a twitter post somewhere stating he's had over 25-30ypg wiped out due to penalties the last 3 weeks. Had an 11 yard run and 8 yard run wiped out last week on phantom holding penalities.

His blocking has improved too. Finished last year ahead of zeke in blocking but looked medicore at best for the majority of the season.

Vast majority of the league will never have a 100 yard rusher as most teams have 2-3 backs. CMC is not the norm nowadays. Same could be said for Williams too as he's been racking up yards. Pollard has had a 100 yard game this season.

But in general I do agree MM doesn't scheme the run game well. Kind of tired watching Pollard and Dowdell get blown up behind the los(also on dak). We can improve in that department.

Well yeah. It's rare for those kinds of injuries to take less than a full 365 days to fully recover. Usually longer than that, sometimes even two full years.

One thing that really jumped out at me watching last night's Saints/Rams game: Cowboys get a LOT of flags. Last night's game was so much smoother without 20 interruptions for penalties.

Instead of harder for the OL......wouldn't OL be part of the problem too?

My only complaint about the offense Mike is let’s run more off tackle with him.
