Of course it's unfortunate that he got injured, but I think it will affect his market value now that he won't be under contract with the Cowboys in the Fall of 2023. He's never really missed much time in the past but this Injury will take some time to heal and teams may have some doubts about him being ready for Training Camp. Again, I don't mean to shed light on a player suffering an injury but this could be fate.

Best wishes for Tony and his recovery.
:starspin:
No we have signed enough injured players. It sucks for him but you do not re sign this guy

Has anything come out other than it being his Tibia? If not I don't see it being a huge factor in his market. Bone injuries heal with a high probability of full recovery. I don't see an issue unless we see complications from his surgery or additional damage to the tissue around the break.

I would think more now than ever we see Pollard get hit with the tag.
Archer was saying it's a 3-month injury.......so you could be right. Only problem for him is not being able to pass a physical until mostly likely June. I can see Stephen offering him a 1-year contract with guaranteed money of half the franchise tag ( 45-6m ).

It's a fracture .. not an achilles tendon tear or ACL tear.

Post surgery he'll already be on healing course in 2-3 months.

Fibula break has no bearing on his near future contract. (franchise tag i predict)
I totally agree

INB4 Stephen says McCaffery's contract is the floor for Pollard

And we could end up with another Gallupesque contract

Yea it worked out well with Gallup...
To be fair Godwin didn’t look the same either and Beckham didn’t even play this year. Let’s see how Gallup plays year two after injury. Do need to draft a WR high though.

IDK maybe I'm completely missing the mark here, and you're right about the ability to pass a physical piece, but I have to believe Pollard would command way more than that if he hits the open market even not at 100%. I mean Dak had a more severe bone break right before he signed his mega deal.

Franchise tag deadline is in March so Pollard will have a full month plus to show the operation went fine, no complications, etc. As long as that happens I see no reason the Cowboys wouldn't tag him.

Maybe the fact that he is an RB plays more into the situation?

Then you'll never resign another player ever.... You going to not bring back Terrence Steele as well since he ended the year injured?

The injury is going to reduce his stock big time in free agency, It’s definitely going to cost him a lot of money. A fractured fibula could cost him speed and quickness.
No it won’t

He should be ok too. Same injury that Demarco Murray had against the Giants and he came back the next season just fine.
I had the same injury
It is a very straight forward recovery
So many people have no clue
Standard fractures heal quickly with no long term affects

Yes it will. He has a fractured fibula that will require surgery. He’s going to have a long rehab this offseason and he’s an RB. The injury will limit his leverage. He missed a game this season with an injury and with this injury teams are going to question his durability.

Dude do you know what a fractured fibula is ?
It heals in 3 months and rehab is quick. It isn’t like a torn ligament or dak’s injury.

Let’s talk when he signs a deal and see who was right

I know what it is and it still requires surgery and several months of rehab. It’s still a serious injury. There’s no guarantees he’ll come back the same player. He had an injury earlier in the season that caused him to miss a game. Teams are going to be very leery of paying a lot of money to an RB coming off a serious injury who may end up having more injury issues. If you don’t think a broken fibula in late January that requires three months of rehab isn’t going to reduce his leverage when fee agency begins on March 15 you’re kidding yourself. Most teams that have paid a lot of money to an RB end up getting screwed. Pollard isn’t an every down back and if a team tries using him as a workhorse he’ll end up with more injuries. The Cowboys will want Pollard more than any other team. We’ll find out who knows what they’re talking about in a couple of months. I found an article that backs some of what I’m saying.

Yeah.

Having leverage over a RB coming off a broken leg is just as smart as a WR coming off an ACL tear(Gallup).
Fibula doesn't restrict athletic ability nearly as much as an ACL does. Fibula break is less of a concern over a high ankle sprain as far as future athletic performance goes.

This team isn't going to be happy until every player has a metal plate in their leg...
