Before I comment re OL play, let me say I was unable to see last nite's game here in Florida. But I've read a lot of comments about the play of our OL. I don't care if it's a preseason game or not & that the OL might be predead from 2 a day practices, the heat or whatever reason anybody can come up with. The OL's job, besides opening up running lanes, is to protect Romo while he's in the game. He's the one indispensable player we have. If he goes down, so does our season. Not saying that we can afford to lose Ware, etc but no team which has legit SB aspirations can lose its starting QB, particularly a guy whose a repeat pro bowler.

Our OL has been a problem the last 3 years, particularly near the end of the season. Last year we messed up badly against the Vikes but don't forget as far back as 2007 when our OL couldn't protect Romo in the playoff game against the Giants in Dallas. You know, the Giants who then went on to win the SB.

It's Jerry's job as GM & our coaching staff as legit NFL coaches to ensure we've got the quality OL players we need. My concern is not only this year but goes as far back as in 1996 when our SB years ended partly because of Jerry's inability to understand how much our success depended on the OL. Seems to me that view by Jerry continues. When we have drafted OL players, most haven't worked out. Heck only Gurode & Free are home grown & does anybody really think any of our backups can save us. I say a big NO.

Jerry and the coaching staff better take a real long realistic look at performance of our OL including their age & check around to see which teams are stockec up with quality OL players. Checking out the waiver wire won't do as much good cause most NFL teams get first dibbs before us. So we either sign a FA OL player (even if he cost us serious money) if he can play better then Colombo and/or trade for a player who will be getting cut simply because a team has a plethora of good young players & that means we off up a late pick rather then wait on the waiver wire only to see most other NFL have first dibbs over us.
