Position 10 is perfect for CB, OL or Rouseau. This draft is a chess match with Philly. Tarron

I think the biggest pressing need is OL, DT, CB, LB. I am normally opposed to drafting a CB high in the first if an O-lineman or D-lineman is there. I was pissed when the team drafted Zeke when the team could have traded back and drafted Stanley. The team’s O-line was the strong suit that year, however my logic was that Stanley was an all-pro type T/G and a team can’t pass on a stud lineman. Moot at this point.

Gregory Rousseau plays long at DE, seems very fast for his long frame. Can the Boys pass on him if he is there at 10?

The O line is a pressing need with Smith and Collins out last season. Left Tackle is a huge need. I am not certain on the health of Tyron. I love the man, however his body is breaking down. Rashawn Slater and Wyatt Davis are both studs that should be plug-n-play studs capable of playing guard or tackle. Can Dallas pass on either one? Can the team win games if they don’t control the trench?

CB is a huge need as well. Outside of Diggs, I was disappointed. Surtain to me is the best CB in the draft. He has excellent technique and is the complete DB in man or zone. Farley is a stud at CB, has length and speed.

I don’t see any DTs in the top ten, I do see 3 or 4 QBs going before Dallas picks which will sweeten the pool for the boys. If the Boys have a trade partner they may could trade back and still get Surtain, Farley, Davis or Slater.

In the 3rd or 4th round, I have a friend of the family that I think the Boys should draft at DE. Tarron Jackson. He is a very tall 6’2” DE. Good motor, plays with his head on a swivel, excellent tackler. High character type of man that can play a rotation at DE or DT. Opposing teams schemed away from him in college and he was doubled teamed on most plays. I like that he will help when I need help remolding on farm projects. I don’t know D-law but he and Tarron talk every few months. I think he would be a great addition to the team and will shock everyone with his tenacity. I know he has garnered attention from a few Eagles writers.

Who do you like in the 1st and who is your pet cat? The team's needs are almost identical to the Eagles and Giants. Zero room for errors in the first 3 rounds. The team needs plug-n-play difference makers.

Leaning towards corner.

Someone like Walker Little seems like a guy this FO would be strongly considering to groom behind Smith. Day 2/3 guy who had high upside before a 2019 injury+2020 covid sit out

I would be more upset at taking an OL at 10 than I was taking a RB at 4.. which is saying a lot. We do NOT need a top 10 OL at this time. Go get D and fix that. Period. If we have 20 picks, 20 new defensive players should be drafted.
All fine.

Theres no possible way OL is BPA at 10 in this draft.

But....TE may very well be. Prepare yourself.

Keep an eye on Iowa DT Daviyon Nixon. Kiper and McShay both have him in that 10 area.
He's almost universally mocked now in the 1st round.
Was the Big 10 D player of the year and an All-American.
5.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss.

But CB should be a good value.
Possibly the Northwestern OT.

I'd only want to take a franchise LT, QB, or 3T with a 10.

Sewell will be long gone. It's not a strong LT class. Lots of guys scheduled in the first round, but not great players. I'd rather ride with Tyron. They should have a good idea on his health before the draft.

The only DT I see even sniffing the first round is Barmore. Generally considered a 1-2. Crappy year to be looking for a top DT.

Only a DB if he is both an athletic freak *and* a highly developed and productive player in college. I don't see a DB like that this year. No Patrick Petersons.

I don't think anything I want with a 10 will be available except QB, and I expect they sign Dak.

So I'm on #TeamTradeDown.

the cowboys front office refuses to pay big money to defensive free agents. they have no problem paying for offense. so the front office needs to spend all of its draft picks on defense so it can maximize the years out of the players before they are free agents. if this team had an average defense we would have easily won nine games maybe ten no matter if prescott or dalton would have been the starting qb.

What about a proven commodity?

Who can we trade for thats an established stud player thats still on their rookie deal?

the only offensive player I would consider in the first round is a LT.....I haven't done my research or study of players in the draft yet, but for now Sewell is obvious best tackle. not sure about the drop off to Slater or Davis...

outside of that we should only draft defense. there is no need to draft any offensive players, as outside of the very top players, they won't have a chance of making this team.....or we are already way too deep in most positions anyway that adding another player would be a waste...

as much as I like gregory and admire what smith did this year, I think Smith is older and his time will come to an end fast. I don't think gregory is trust worthy.....

if we end up drafting 11 defensive players, then I would be very happy.

Nope.

Stanley would have been the smarter pick. Collins would have stayed at OG, then you'd have a legitimate stud playing RT in Stanley who could eventually slide over and play LT when Smith left or got hurt.

Stanley is arguably the best player along with Ramsey from that Top 10 that year.

OK... but I wasn't talking 2016, I was talking 2021. This draft, I WOULD HATE TAKING AN OL AT 10. I don't have issue with taking OL high in the draft, in theory. But we do not need to take one THIS year.

Things can change, but some combination of Parsons/Farley/Surtain would be my picks at 10.

Pending some doomsday scenario where they're not there, you'd be looking at a second tier like Rousseau, Paye or Horn.

A DT is more likely in the second as you have some borderline 1st/2nd round guys there like Barmore, Nixon, etc. Doubt Nolan will be back and if they'll subscribe to a theory of bigger 1T or 3T, but can't see it happening at 10.

I’m hoping Parsons is there but I just don’t see it.

My dream would be a trade down and get a safety + 2nd rounder.

i think it will be a corner. because that is the position that will cost the most cap dollars. this team will not pay big money on corners so having control of good young corner on a rookie deal would be ideal. i do not know what i am saying makes sense. the last ten years they always try to draft the big free agent position first to save cap dollars.

☆Surtain
☆Farley
☆Rousseau

i think it'll be Surtain....if he's gone...then Farley.
if both CBs are gone...Rousseau.
there are 2 OTs i like after Sewell...Leatherwood and Slater...but i wouldn't force that at 10...move down then nab one.

dont need OL NOPE we found deoth we have starters and backups really the Offense is loaded..all defense especially rounds 1-3

philly will take an OL most likely if they are smart or i can see them reach for WR to help Hurts and with Ertz possibly leaving id say they will not be picking the same players we need..

Three early samplings for Cowboys' no. 10 pick

SBNation: Caleb Farley, CB- West Viginia
Bleacher Report: ReShawn Slater, OT- Northwestern
Sporting News: Patrick Sustain II, CB- Alabama

Trade the pick for an established player years into his rookie contract? It's a thought. But it's not a cap friendly one.

It's a Cooper replay. And while I like Cooper, we essentially spent a 1st for half a cheap year and the right to be first in line to spend free agent money on Cooper (the 5th year option and subsequent contract). And the Cooper deal played out *better* than we should have expected. He could have been another Gallup, just a lot faster and more expensive.

If we had drafted a guy in the first round, we would have *also* been first in line to sign him, just years later. We mortgaged that future for a win now Garret year. Waste. Giving up 1st round picks and their cheap rookie deals is a huge cap blow. I'm not a fan.
