Watched an interview that Woody did a few months back on NFL network, where he talked about conversations he has had with Jones about his play. One of the things he told him was that he will have to get bigger (as in off-season weight training). It will be just another thing to look for when training camp rolls around.
The depth we are starting to build all over this team really makes me smile these days. Even if we take a slight step back this year due to all the rookies, we are building for a long run I think with great team depth.
Next off-season with the added compensatory picks, they should complete the overhaul of this roster and be dominating for the next 5 years !

If Jones is going to cover TE in the RZ he needs to get stronger. He was getting abused physically at the top of routes routinely He gave up multiple TDs in the process.

Part of that is scheme and hopefully having a S with range to pair with him will mean less time on an island.

Nobody. Heath will finally receive the spot he earned but was forced to play behind cement feet Wilcox and Church.

Never really understood that as a strategy.

"Let's put the better player on the bench!"

Strange. I'm not being facetious, either. It's pretty obvious that Heath was a better safety than either of those other two guys.

I bet one of Awuzie, Lewis, or Woods wins a starting spot. But only one. Scan, brown, jones, carroll, and heath all have the inside track over them in both experience and coaches' trust, in not ability too. But maybe not. Either way I love our db situation way more than in years past.
Amen. Competition is everything. No idea how it shakes out...but competition is a great starting point.

Yep, underneath coverage at MLB will help too if Jaylon comes back strong.

I don't see Frazier or Blanton beating out Heath.

We agree. In fact jones looks smaller than 200 to me

That camera man looks more jacked without pads lol

Yeup and he can't match up with the bigger TEs, needs to be playing LCB exclusively so that his knee doesn't pop out of place like when he plays on the right side.

We don't even know what Frazier is yet. Barely played, if at all. Most came on special teams when he did.

Heath was a really good raw talent.

Greg Jackson may make him a star.

We saw Jackson's effect on Wilcox last year; saved his job.

So I wonder if what we saw from Heath vs GB is more of a projection of things to come than a one off fluke.

I was going to post this exact thought. Frazier is certainly not void of talent. Interesting how many have buried him after only 1 season. It's possible he makes the proverbial jump between years 1 and 2 and works his way into the base defense. You've got several young talented guys and hopefully some good competition back there which can only help. Heath is the clear leader in the clubhouse given his NFL experience.
