Position Battles

We get to see extended playing time tonight from all the players that are on the bubble to make the roster, by my count we have 57 good candidates for 53 spots. Plus we have UDFAs who could surprise and force their way onto the roster (Jerimiah McKinnon is my surprise pick for tonight).

I think the position battles look like this going into the game:

S: Frazier and Wilcox competing for one spot

CB: Brown, Thomas and Olatoye competing for 1 – 2 spots (McKinnon the surprise UDFA)

LB: Gachkar and Nzeocha competing for one spot (possibly Durant if he has lost something)

DL: I think the rotation is set but McAdoo, Okoye, Warren and possibly Rodney Coe compete to stay on the roster until DLaw and Collins return.

OL: The other OTs compete against a waiver wire pickup for the 4th OT spot.

TE: Swaim and Escobar compete for 1 – 2 spots.

WR: Butler, Lucky, Street and Jones compete for 1 – 3 spots.

RB: DMC competes against Jackson to avoid getting cut for cap room.

FB battle is a wildcard and I think they make the decision based on how the other position battles play out.

QB: Dak and Showers obviously.

Injuries usually sort out the roster competition but if most stay healthy, these will be fun battles to watch.

DMC getting cut does not save that much cap room. Better he is kept for the depth and experience.
Jackson playing to show they should keep 4 RBs and not 3. Or else he is on PS.

Showers playing for 3rd QB spot, or PS. Up to him to show if they, or when they bring in another QB.

OL, for a back up T, yes need to see Green, and if he is that guy.

A WR to try to make it as the 6th WR or make it tough for them to decide. this will be between Jomes and Street.

I think they keep 4 TEs regardless of the PS games.

dB's, yes 3 players competing for 1 spot, same for S's, but 2 players.

LB's need to see some promise from several and for some to emerge to compete for a spot, or possibly 2

DL, I won't break it down to DT and DE, as some can play both. So we just need to see signs of life all across the DL, though the DT should be set with the top 3 players.

I've been impressed by what I've seen of Jones in camp. I think he may take the spot from Butler.

Escobar isn't fighting for a roster spot
