Position by position, it's time to be honest

Position by position, for the first time in my memory, this team does not have elite production at any position (outside of Ware who is IMO the best Cowboy ever).

Garrett has had his head up his *** regularly, Romo has done his get out of dodge act too many times, the OL is poorly coached and under performing, wide receivers are still trying to figure out reads and routes...

This is a chronic theme with this team. I don't know how it's possible but the only common denominator is Jerry. What do we do to go from a mediocre team, to a top flight contender?

We have elite production at quarterback and if we had a decent offensive line we'd have elite production at WR,

The Eagles improved their team by looking at ours and figuring out how to beat us. We should also start building to beat the competition.

It all starts and ends with the big uglies in the trenches. Gotta improve the offensive line play.

Witten's production is elite for a tight end.

Oh yeah forgot about him for a second. Also if Tyron and Sean keep it up they will become elite by the end of the season.

Also Ware best Cowboy ever? Cmon man don't be ridiculous I love the guy, but there's no way in hell he's better than Emmitt Smith. I'm sure even Ware would admit that.

I would disagree with at least Witten. I don't know how anyone could say he's not playing at elite level at the TE position once again.

But to each their own on that.

I think Romo is doing a good job but he's hampered by an O-Line that is struggling as they grow and learn.

Now don't take that to mean that I think the O-Line is fine or that it eventually will get it all worked out. I don't know if they will, as I can't really predict the future, but I know a big part of this issue is youth and inexperience and with that comes lumps and growing pains.

If we had better, all around, line play I really think you'd see not only Romo playing a lot more fitting of fans expectations but the running game on this team would be pretty darn good too.

And with Murray (along with Holland and our FB returning) the last couple of weeks it seems (and I am only saying it seems, I'm not assuring it as if it's a forgone conclusion so calm down) that the running game has gotten better.

the reason we drafted carter in my opinion was to shadow Vick.. he has the speed and tools to do so

How does that help them beat the Saints? The Packers?

It's nice to figure out how to beat one opponent but if you build your whole team around the idea of beating that one team it doesn't seem like it's going to do you much good when considering the other teams.

I'd take Ware over Emmitt in a heartbeat. The only outside LB in the history of the NFL that was on Ware's level is LT. I think there are a few RBs that were better than Emmitt. I don't think Emmitt was the greatest Cowboy ever. He was great, but not the greatest Cowboy ever.

maybe he's not the greatest Cowboys player ever but he's certainly my favorite and my vote for the #1 Cowboy of all time.

Behind him would be Mr. Cowboy himself.

But I definately wouldn't mind having another Emmitt Smith on this team and I don't know how you can get a few RBs better than him. I can think of 2, off the top of my head, who anyone can really make a serious contention were better than Smith.

Payton and Brown are the only ones I can think of.

Oh and also as much as I love Ware and believe he's an amazing player it really should be said that Ware is working his way toward being on LT's level and not the other way around.

OK, I would take Staubach over both of them. The QB is the position that is the most important in today's game, bar none.

Our OL has shown to be lacking, our ILBs without Lee are lacking, and we need some youth all over our D. It all still comes down to Romo.

I would hope that isn't the reason. What a narrow minded reasoning to use a 2nd round pick on a player.

Sean is already great, Tyron not so much

All starts with the oline of offense. Other than one game, the D has been pretty to very good all year.

If we can get the oline playing better, the rest will take care of itself.

I would just like to say that it's a process and they're trying to get better everyday.

The goal is to come in and take it 1 day at a time, 1 play at a time, and improve.

I'd say any defensive line that leads the league in run defense and is among the top sack teams is getting elite production and going into this game I don't see how you can argue with that. So I'm not going to overreact off of one game.

Have you guys watched Ratliff in these last 4 games (pretty much all season long)? He doesn't have the sacks to show for it but he's been getting crazy pressure-insane for a NT-and if not for Vick at QB he probably has 3 sacks on Sunday night.

Hatcher was playing pretty good 3-4 DE before he got hurt. Coleman, a strong side DE, has been pretty damn good at stopping the run this season.

Sean Lee has given us ELITE ELITE production at ILB. You're a fool if you argue with that.

The O-line has been up and down this season though, and against the Eagles they were flat out terrible.

Although, you can argue that Murray has given us elite production at RB over the last 2 games. Like Cowboys record elite and I'm not exaggerating.

The secondary, although not elite, hasn't been a mess all season long too. Mike Jenkins' performance this season has bordered on elite.

I hate to say this but I think Romo is one of our problems. He doesn't even try to scramble anymore and gets rid of the ball way too early on plays. Yes, I know our offensive line is not that good.. but I don't think they are terrible. I see other teams do better with less than we have out there.

Romo is our best QB on the team and gives us the best chance to win out of the 3, but I think it's time we look for his replacement and consider trading him while he still has value.

I know people are going to think I'm crazy but I have been a die hard supporter of his and have followed him since his career started and I can assure you all that he is part of the problem here.

Our corners easily get dinged up (Jenkins and Newman). Also, Newman is getting old and needs to be replaced asap. We should have addressed that in free agency. Instead we sat back and did nothing. I just watched a game last night where KC was using single coverage on SD's WR's and they did an awesome job shutting them down. 5'10 flowers shut Vjax down... we have no CB's that could do that... not even close. Who the hell is Flowers? A no name CB? He looked amazing last night.

Our defensive line needs to majorly be revamped. The only guy on the team creating pressure is Ware. Why is that? We can't be a serious defense with only Ware creating pressure on a regular basis.

I think the receives are fine now. I keep hearing about them running the wrong routes and that did happen early on with Ogletree and Bryant.. ok, mainly Ogletree.. but we aren't seeing that anymore. Miles Austin is a #1 top WR and proved that 2 years in a row.. he knows how to run routes... he isn't getting the ball thrown his way.. why? You want to blame the offensive line? Fine... but why are we not seeing 5 and 7 yard slant passes to him or Dez? We are rarely seeing them...

How about we find a guy who can snap a ball? This is the pro's... Ive seen better centers in high school football.. much less college.
