With Dak as the starter the team has one of the best QB’s in the entire NFL. His fierce competitiveness unwilling to ever give up gives the team an excellent chance to go far in the playoffs. It all depends on the defense and special teams doing their part. There will most certainly be another QB signing in the coming days. But with Dak back at the helm this should give everyone optimism for the upcoming year.

Ben DiNucci
7 QB 6-3 209 24 2 James Madison

Garrett Gilbert
3 QB 6-4 230 29 4 Southern Methodist

Dak Prescott
4 QB 6-2 238 27 6 Mississippi State

Cooper Rush
10 QB 6-3 225 27 4 Central Michigan

Never understood why we cant have talented young backups on our team. I get why Jerry doesnt do it, just dont agree with it. QB should be like any other position where you are constantly drafting talent and developing it.

Do DT's get pissed that you drafted a young DT? Jerry consistently fails in this regard.

By Sept, I actually believe we will have a backup QB that is not currently on the roster. I’m not sold on any of the backup guys currently on the roster. There’s a reason Garrett Gilbert is 32 years old and been with so many different teams before. I would much rather have a younger guy with some upside serving as the backup.

It is quite promising with the offensive weapons. We need a break from the injuries to key positions. The D is getting a real chance for needed change and success. SPTs will come around. It can only get better!

I'm OK with Gilbert, he looked better than Dalton. They should've let him play out the rest of the season.

Would be nice to have someone besides Cooper Rush as a #3 or PS guy. I agree with those saying the FO should be drafting guys (not 7th round guys) to develop. This has been a philosophy issue for years. They did it with Dak and look what happened. Never stop churning that position even if you have a super star at the top.

It has been the front office foible for years. The win-now thinking continues.

As long as we have Dak, we're right as can be.
I'll be happy as can be if Dak is playing at a normal level in game 1 .

Until then:
Jerry:
Romo is just having a cyst removed nothing to see here.

I would have liked to have seen that, but Jerry seemed convinced that we were on the verge of making the playoffs at any cost, which seemed to be just good enough for him.

I prefer mobile QBs who can operate the run pass option. I don’t think Dak will be doing that much or be running much this year. We will see. Don’t know the stats but it seems like he is running less. Defenses don’t have to put a spy on the QB or worry much about a scramble. Throw in defenses don’t have to worry about Elliott breaking a long run and the job becomes easier to stop the offense.

I especially prefer mobile backup QBs. We don’t have that with Gilbert, Rush, or DiNucci.

If the OL holds up and can provide a pocket, the team should be ok. Well, yeah, pretty much goes for every team. When the pocket breaks down, I think Dak will be ok this year. Not so with the backups and I don’t think the run game, especially Elliott, can carry the backups to success.

That’s all just your speculation concerning Dak not being mobile anymore and Zeke not being a threat. And the chances great that you’ll be wrong on both accounts.

...and you missed the Cowboys/Steeler game in 2020? You totally ignored how good Garrett played in that game. You don't seem interested in giving him a fair shake. His past is his past and there is nothing he can do about that. All I know is since he has been a Cowboy he has been the perfect backup QB and we should recognize this and give him a fair shot at keeping that job.

I recall someone in the front office commenting that Dak will not run as much this year. Later on, I’ll take a look at Dak running over the years. I do remember the play he got hurt on was only his second run of the Giant game and it was halfway through the 3rd quarter.

I think it is no longer speculation Elliott is not a home run threat any more. He may break one here or there on a blitz but the speed is not there any more. Elliott is most likely just a grinder now, 3-4-5-6-7 yards.

Back to QBs though, I don’t see any of the Cowboy QBs cruising while the running game drives the field. Not seeing that luxury. Going to have to pass to win.

Well you're entitled to your opinion.
