When the offense has stalled this yr, the tackle position is the main reason why. It is either their struggles in pass protection or penalties that are drive killers.
Guyton-has made a good jump from his rookie season, but continues to struggle with availability. Not good for a blindside protector missing so many games this early in his career. When he has played, he has shown flashes of becoming a solid tackle, but missing so much time has affected his development. Interesting to see if they move him to the right side or make him the team's swing tackle.
Steele-he is what he is that this juncture of his career. Biggest strength lies in the run game and is a major liability in pass protection. There is an out in his contract after this season, where it is most likely he will being playing somewhere else next season as he is on the books for 18 million, which isn't happening.
Thomas-went from the last man on the roster, to becoming the #3 Tackle. Yes, he has had major growing pains, but he also has played well in stretches. Better as a pass protector then in the run, just needs to continue his development. This is basically his rookie season, we could expect him to get better with more experience. He will compete to become one of the starters next season, especially if Steele departs.
Cornelius-was basically the Thomas of last season. Pretty much a red shirt season. Like Thomas could play either G/T. Hopefully, we see a similar jump as Thomas in yr 2.
Interesting to see how they look to improve the position in the offseason. Do they move Tyler Smith to LT, then add either a starting guard or Center? Do they add a veteran? Do they move Guyton to swing tackle or the right side? Do they use another 1st rd pick at the position?
Players to watch-Mauigoa Miami, Fano Utah, Proctor Alabama
