Positions I am comfortable with/worry about prior to camp!

QB-Good, like the #2 add to develop
RB-very worried. Not sure we have a every down back. Heard zero from Blue thus far.
TE-pleasantly surprised with Spann-Ford emergence.
WR-Good, would love to see either Tolbert or Mingo take that next step.
OL-Good. Hearing good things about our tackles, but let's see how they perform when the pads go on.
DE-Good, probably our deepest position. Hearing good things about EZ, Sam.
DT-extremely worried. 3T should be fine, but just unproven talent at the 1T.
LB-very worried. Like Sanborn, but he has athletic limitations. Murray is by far the biggest concern cause his lack of instincts, I am expecting another Jaylon Smith. Marist I like the most, but still green.
CB-very worried. Booth/Muku have been playing outside corners with the 1's and getting roasted. Cannot expect a rookie coming off of an acl to start day 1.
S-Good. Watch for the Syracuse undrafted kid to make the team. Hoping for a bigger role for Thomas.
Coaching-Good. Confident schemes on both sided with be improved

Training Camp will determine if the front office has to go out and bring in a few veteran reinforcements.
The positions you are concerned about just need one player to break at those positions like Mazi, a healthy Overshown, Revel, ect. We have a potentially good team.

Right.

In order to pull off what they claim to want to, a few things need to be the case…you’ve got to be very good at executing it, have a really good defense that doesn’t allow you to fall too far behind in games, and probably not have too many resources tied up in the passing game.

Is this team built that way? I’d say it isn’t. There’s questions with the OL and backs, the defense is to where it’s more likely the opposition will be able to run on them and control the clock, and they’ve got a 60m QB with two ones at WR.

They’ll be a passing team before long and if they don’t already realize that they are fooling themselves, but it’s not surprising.

There’s always plenty of talk in Dallas about pulling off what’s ideal, but roster building doesn’t match.

Why? There’s no actual plan. The FO isn’t talented enough to put together a plan with the right players that coincide with the right scheme and staff. They just collect players and coaches and attempt to talk things into existence.
Right. That's the thing I don't think the team is built right now for what they say they are going to do.

I honestly think they are trying to replicate those 12 win teams and are perfectly fine with that.

Only thing I will disagree with is I think they have a plan. Aside from Pickens I think all the talent they compiled are all the same guys. I don't know if it will work but I do believe all of these guys were intentionally brought in. They all have similar traits and similar upbringings.

Coaching, DT and OT are the weak points in my opinion. Shotty is a career clown. I am shocked people believe in him.

It's surprising, well maybe not, at the sink or swim attitude at 1 tech with Mazi.

Sure, they drafted some big dudes, but it was round 7, and Rogers is back for now.
But if Mazi fails to show improvement, we'll be dumpster diving against for a Jordan Phillips level trade or Linval Joseph signing in August. Below average DT's.
3 Tech they at least got Thomas behind Osa, who at this point is at least is a solid rotation player.

I'm not too worried at RB, as I think it's a better RBBC than last year. But no RB there that IMO can carry the load.

Hoepfully the injury bug avoids the corner position this year. Waiting till TC/PS to see how Elam plays here.
I believe they will be signing a veteran at some point, but probably want to see how these prospects do first in camp.

You still need a back who consistently can get positive yards, losing Dowdle was a bigger loss then many realize.

I have concerns about running back as well, but I felt that the biggest issue last year was the run blocking and commitment to it more than anything.

Changes in that area are the biggest reason for my optimism.
Still need talent at the running back position to be an effective run team. Not sure if they have a good option currently on their roster.

I'm mainly worried about the run game. If Blue doesn't pan out, I'm not sure how well we'll do. I think our season depends on it. If Dak is constantly in 3rd and 8 and 3rd and 9+, we'll be lucky to make the playoffs.
I agree, it is a position if it struggles in camp, they should go out and trade for a better option.

Elam seems to be playing better than us fans expected. At least so far.

And I keep thinking that they have a handshake agreement with Stephon Gilmore to come in during training camp to give them some snaps early in the season.
Kind of like DT, think they want to see how their prospects perform before bringing in a veteran. Gilmore coming to the star, suggests he could very well be in their future plans. Him as a short-term starter would be just fine and allow those injured players not to rush back.

I’d call that very accurate, except you needed to break down the OL to interior and exterior IMO.

One is likely very solid, the other has serious questions.
You would think the interior would be the strength. Tyler Smith is already a pro bowl player and we just spent a high 1st rd pick on a Guard. Believe Beebe will continue to get better with more experience. The worry is more at the tackle position, especially in pass protection.

It takes quite the commitment to genuinely stick with the run, and you also can’t routinely be behind in games and make that work.

Think about that dynamic once we are into the early season….they are going to be giving the ball to rookie RB and guys like Williams and/or Sanders while guys like Lamb and Pickens get limited touches?

This “run the ball” thing is likely to go by the wayside quickly, and people like you understand that. Lotsa lip service in Dallas lately per usual.
Linehan was always good at sticking to the run, but Moore was inpatient and wanted to throw way too much.

Meh, he is all hopped up on coffee and Jerry is letting him have his moment for now. That won’t last.

Thing is, if this guy fails, it’s not going to be about his ability. No one can win with the Jerry ego show over their head coupled with the inability to be a qualified NFL GM that can construct a winning roster. Even if he once was (wasn’t), he is almost EIGHTY THREE.

If it goes badly, Shoddy is a scapegoat, if it goes well, Jerry is in front of every mic saying dumb things, undermining him and patting himself on the back.

Bottom line is…there were plenty of HC vacancies and no other team wanted to even pick his brain. It’s a typical Jerry hire, and not even his first choice. MM couldn’t get out of the building fast enough. Must be a great place to work.

Still have major concerns about our run defense, don't think we are 1 player away from fixing that weakness. Keeping an open mind to see what Eberflus can come up with schematically, but it is my biggest concern. Also, there is no guarantee were are a better run team this season. Yes, better coaching, but have basically the same players.

Moore was all about Jerry realizing that Garrett’s offense wasn’t going to cut it, but he didn’t want to fire him.

It looked a lot to me as if it was Moores offense while here was Garrett’s (probably to appease Prescott) with some gadget plays inserted…like reverses inside the five, and Wilson flinging passes after catching one downfield.

Then again, you can only deal with what you have to work with. Moore seemed to be quite attached to the run last year.

The problem is the lack of talent in the front office. Not news. Hate to keep referencing Philly but the front office put those horses on the field last year. Jerry and son are not capable. Having a talented FO is as crucial as having a talented QB.

Jerry expects any coach he pays to work miracles with an incomplete roster.

I mean….this is all synonymous with a post I made earlier…..the roster doesn’t match what they claim to want to do. He just collects players that he thinks he got a deal on and expects it all to add up.

Overshown's injury hurts. No dis on Parsons, but O was becoming a key piece in the defense and really stood out when he played. He was also going to be a star.

My biggest worry is they'll rush him back and it ends up impacting his injury progress or regresses somehow.

I live now in Philly, they were killing Moore early on when they were off to a slow start. Once they started to run the football more, is when they started to become more successful. Not sure if their HC forced the change, but the offense did look very different after the 1st month.

Understood but if the pass rush is good I feel Elam, Bland and Izzy can hold it down.
Think you are overrating these players:

Elam has had good practices early on, but he has always been an average starter.

Izzy is not a starter in this league, he is too leggy and struggles with change of direction. He can handle a bigger matchup, but will really struggle against speed and quickness.

Bland is a solid starter, but I think the fan base thinks he is better then what actually he is. He is not a #1 corner in this league. Remember, the Seattle game 2 seasons ago, when he got completely torched all night? As a #2 or a slot he is fine, but not a corner who can take on a team's best receiver.

Yes, pass rush will help, but this group is very average as a whole.

One game doesn’t make you not a number one corner. I get the cautiousness of Elam but Bland has shown what he he is.
