Positives from the game

It’s been doom and gloom tonight and rightfully so. But I thought that there were some positives, especially on defense. I think the defense played its best game of the year.

Robert Quinn was outstanding. I think he’s been a surprise in his first two games. He has a non-stop motor and a burst around the corner we haven’t had since Ware.

Maliek Collins had a good game applying pressure. He does need to get better at run support.

the Linebackers had a really nice game. Smith and LVE contained Kamara for most of the game. Jaylons sack at the end of the game was outstanding.

Unfortunately both sides can never play well at the same time, but the defense getting 5 sacks and an INT was a pleasant surprise.

The secondary played like crap again honestly, expected better play against an ultra conservative game plan from Payton.

Thomas is the only player that really hurt us in the passing game. Only 10 yards a catch, but he was 9 for 9 on targets. There probably isnt a better WR in the game running short routes, but putting Awuzie and not Jones on him was a terrible decision

I agree Smith and LVE had better games tonight. Jarwin had a big catch tonight too. Quinn showed he is going to help the DL and we got an interception. Its clear the Saints were playing a more conservative game plan with TB in their QB spot. Not a lot of deep balls. A lot of underneath stuff and screens.

But the negatives really outnumbered the positives by a lot. This defense, needed to get off the field on that last Saints drive, especially since they knew the Saints would run the ball on 1st and 2nd down. The Saints almost ran out the clock. It just seems when Dallas need to get a 3 and out they can't force it.

Even though we had an INT on a tipped pass, this secondary still is not getting take-aways. This was Teddy Bridgewater we were facing tonight.

The way the OL played has to be a concern and if Smith is out for any length of time its going to be a huge problem.

Agreed, but for the future, giving Awuzie some quality testing will help also.

Well, if you're going to say it's a learning opportunity, the whole game has some positives.

Moore's run 4 NFL games. He did not do well this one. This is an opportunity to learn that he needs to adapt and sometimes his plan will get thrown awry.

It's an opportunity for the WR's to know it's not so easy.

It's a game that the coach, if he's willing, can use to drive home a lot of lessons for the future. If they can build on it, they can benefit.

We don't flip our corners and we don't believe in Big Run stuffing tackles something I wish would change, but this is supposed to be a positive thread ;)

Positives?

LVE and Jaylon finally woke up
Quinn is a beast

No positives on O tonight. Pretty piss poor performance.

What's strange is, for once I don't feel Dak had much responsibility for the bad effort tbh.

His playmakers let him down several times. He missed one tough throw to Cobb in the EZ, Cobb has to catch the other ball that was slightly behind him but he catches that 9 of 10 times

Cooper had a bad night. Some lame OPI's and was molested on every route with not one penalty going his way.

Witten's fumble was huge as was Zeke's bad call fumble that stood.

This defense once again failed the eye test but it didn’t show in the final score. That’s as positive as I can get after this one.

Except for the refs gave them points on terrible calls but to be objective, there were calls that went our way that I felt were garbage as well.

Getting Woods back in the dline should be big. Covington, Woods, and Collins gives us a decent rotation at DT.

Defense allowed 266 yards and 12 points, half of which were a direct result of fumbles by the offense.

Offense had one good drive the entire night. Offensive line couldn't open any running lanes and rarely was there time to even think of throwing deep.

You could say the defense holding the Saints to 12 points is a huge positive, but there's that one thing that was missing from NO's offense that might have been the difference between 12 points and 31. Care to guess?

** cough ** Brees **cough **.

If Brees plays we lose by 21
