Positives So Far?

A few players have been very good.

Lee, obviously, is a tackling machine. I'm really surprised at how good he is. I knew he was good, but didn't know he was elite.

Hatcher is getting a ton of pressure, Brent is also playing very well.

Besides the Hester TD, Claiborne has been very good.

OL looked much much better against the Bears--Tyron, in particular, I thought did a great job. Looked much better than the other 3 games.

There are some positives, but mostly just among individuals.

I don't see many positives for the team as a whole.

Sean Lee is still Sean Lee. Perhaps the only player that I truly enjoy watching out there.

Bruce Carter has been very good so far and gives me a lot of hope for the future.

I liked what I saw out of Barry Church, but he's injured and given that injury, he'll probably be a shell of his former self.

I really like Chris Jones' punting. As great as Moorman was against Chicago, Jones is a terrific hangtime and directional punter, making life difficult for returners.

I like what I've seen out of Miles so far.

Honestly, I think outside of the drops, Witten has plenty of gas left in the tank. He does get open. The problem is we use him in a less than optimal fashion.

I like what I've seen out of Claiborne.

Dan Bailey still seems to be playing well.

I like what I see out of Murray if we didn't have the worst run blocking O-Line in the league.

Seriously....

Yeah our D is such a positive

Hopefully we can improve, but I won't dance around over a stat column.

We all saw what can happen on Monday night. I like our pieces we have in place, but once we look bad, we look bad

This is a thread for positive vibes, my friend.. not sarcastic little boys.

Our D is the best in the league against the pass and giving up under 17 points a game, which is also top 4 or 5 in the league. They're giving us a good chance to win every game. Now, it has to continue for the rest of the year, but its certainly a very good start compared to what we're used to.

I think the only downside with Witten is that he was never super athletic to begin with, and now he looks like he's lost a step or two and he's not a threat downfield at all really. He gets by on his short out routes and his little comeback curls where he turns and steps to the side and relies on the ball being there immediately for him to be able to make the play. I don't think teams worry too much about him beating them on any mid to deep routes anymore.. which limits his effectiveness in our offense.

Like your observations though.. just hope we make a big effort to upgrade in the trenches this offseason.

Why because stats say so? Wilson and Freeman

We can be top 10, i really believe that, we are not the best though, and will not stay number 1.

I don't think he's lost a step.

I think he's dropped passes and people assume that he's lost a step.

He's never been an Antonio Gates or Dallas Clark type that beats teams deep with speed. Instead, he is an ultra smart player who is great at running routes, finding the soft spots in zones and utilizing all of the nuances and fakes.

He's gotten WIDE open on quite a few intermediate to deep pass patterns. The problem has been with the uncharacteristic drops.

He's never been the type that catches a pass and takes tacklers with him or shrugs them off.

One of the problems the team is having is that they are using him on those short hot reads and he's catching 5 yard patterns and only getting 5 yards. But, he's never eluded tacklers or shrugged them off on those plays. That's why we need a quick, slashing WR so they can get big yards after the catch on those plays and hopefully get Witten more one-on-one with safeties and linebackers. That's also why I think Murray needs to be used more in the pssing game. He's getting a lot of linebacker coverage and he'll simply beat those linebackers in pass patterns.

My guess is that Garrett is too averse to using Beasley and Hanna right now and isn't open minded enough to get Murray involved much more in the passing game. Of course, this could have been resolved if the O-Line was not so terrible.

Reactionary fans don't run the team or we'd never ever win a single game.

Sean Lee leads the NFL in tackles.

Ware is getting pressure and making big plays as needed.

Injured players are due back.

We close the season with a lot of home games.

Our Offense is moving the football, and controlling the clock just needs to run the ball effectively to put points on the board and avoid being one dimensional.

1-0 in the NFC East. Giants, are 0-2.

Eagles are the worst 3-1 team in the NFL.

Commanders are two plays from 0-4.

Dont know if that is a positive

Don't blame the stats. Going on yards allowed is a poor metric to use. QB rating allowed is currently at 95.4, 23rd in the league.

The stats are not wrong, just the person who does not identify the stats that more accurately depict what's going on.

Because we've only given up 170 pass yards per game. That's playing two good QB's in Eli and Cutler, and two below average QB's in Freeman and Wilson.

We don't choose who we play against.. but we arn't going to be playing a great QB every week either.

Same with points given up.. top 4 or 5 in the league. Giving up under 17 ppg in this NFL is great, actually.

If someone were to go on yards allowed alone, i would have to agree with you.

But when you look at yards allowed combined with points allowed, together.. you see how our D has done a good job so far.

Its not the drops im concerned with.. that was really only one or two weeks and clearly isn't something that Jason has ever done in his career.. so i didn't expect that to last. The problem is how slow he looks out there, and how slow he is in and out of his breaks. I just don't think teams worry about him spreading them out or extending them anymore.

As for our backs, i agree i think Murray and Felix are both great weapons we should use more in the passing game.. the problem is we have to keep them in to pass block so often because of our terrible OL. Maybe have them chip more and then go out on delayed patterns?

The defense has given up 3 FGs in 4 games in the first half.

The defense scheme/gameplan has been damn near 100% effective. This defense is built for a lead, where they can blitz and use the corners to cover. When the games remain close or if they fall behind for the majority of the game, they will begin to wear down/ take gambles/ etc. (basically like any defense).

Blaming the Defense for the Sea and Chi debacles are very narrow sighted. (you can infer what 3 phases deserve 95% of the blame).

Positives
- LB play....havent see LBs close on slip screens and passes on the flat on a long time.

- CB play

- Kicker/punter/coverage unit (protection and returns not so much)

- Romo - though I do expect him to be IRd by thanksgiving

One fail in the D so far is lack of INTs - agree.

Lee is a beast
Demarcus is Demarcus
Bailey is money
Our punter situation doesn't suck

No question.. this D needs to generate more than the one turnover per game clip we're at right now if we're going to be successful. The offense needs to stop giving it away too.

We're second to last in the NFL in turnover differential.. hard to win that way.

Not saying the suck...

At the end of the day, i hear what you are saying

We definitely will not be disappointed with a loss next week. :)

Rofl just last week you said the defense was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Sure they didn't play great last week and yeah they aren't quite as good as we thought they were, but they still weren't the big problem or reason we lost.
