Eberflus' defense is very conservative and vanilla, but it's basically in line with where the rest of the NFL is at. Lots of deep zone and funneling the ball underneath.... make the other team hit five eight-yard throws rather than one 40-yard bomb. He's not as doctrinaire about it as Marinelli was with his "rushmen", etc, but he's got similar ideas.

And yes, it's a scheme that is willing to cede a whole bunch of rushing yards as part of BBDB.

Sounds like we’re going to need to be able to create pressure rushing 4 and have LBs that can cover.

We’ve got some work to do talent wise.

Remember with Matt E, he was brought to Dallas originally with Rob Ryan in his "complex" 3-4.
He stuck around when Rob was fired and still was the LB coach under Kiffin/Rod.

So, while I don't doubt he has some mindsets from the conservative defenses Rod had here he was originally a Ryan hire.
And did coach guys like Ware/Spencer on the outside.

Let's hope Eberflus puts his own spin on the scheme that calls for bigger interior lineman. Also, for this system to be effective, they need a deep rotation. Cannot have street fa's serving as backups. It's a great year needing a DT as the class is loaded, but they cannot exclude players who like they did in the pass cause they weren't considered high level pass rushers. It is going to be interesting to see if they do pass on one of these prospects.
I really hope so. I’ve just read a few articles that said the cowboys front office was going to put a emphasis on defensive lineman who can stop the run, so maybe Jerry and co are finally learning
