Perhaps they aren't planning to have day 2 picks if they decide to trade up? I want no part of a developmental player like Rainmann who is going to be 25 at the start of the season. Will he still be there at 56? I suppose that's particular to this draft....so many inponderables.
Knowing we don't have a LG (and nobody in FA), it's strange why we didn't invite more of the 2nd/3rd Rd options.

@Hawkeye0202 you've both answered my point.... indications appear to indicate Guard at 24.Perhaps they aren't planning to have day 2 picks if they decide to trade up? I want no part of a developmental player like Rainmann who is going to be 25 at the start of the season.
Maybe the Cowboys trust McGovern more then the media thinks. The Cowboys might draft a guard with the first pick but I think they don’t feel like they have to draft one. I think they covet the offensive tackles more. Not really if you think about it........we need an immediate starter. Not sure we can get that if don't pull the trigger at 24. My guess, is if we don't draft an LG at 24, we'll likely sign or trade for a quality vet free agent.

Is there even a half decent Guard left in FA?
There are a few still out there, but the team isn't signing anyone until they sees what happens in the draft. I believe we are going to see the team use either of their 1st two picks to address the LG starting need.@Hawkeye0202 you've both answered my point.... indications appear to indicate Guard at 24.

Unless someone falls to them on the defensive end, I think they take Green/Zion. I think if Penning or Cross fall past 13 we could see them trade up. McGovern is the fall back plan. He is the left guard today. XWalker broke it down saying the real issue is the center. If you're McClay or MM, what's your plan B or C if you don't get your LG starter at 24. ( remember you need a starter ( play at high level ) not a replacement)

Poor play speed. No, it's not just you.I know we're supposed to like him, MLB, tough, playmaker. But I can't be the only one who think he occasionally looks weird or awkward running, like he's jogging.
Theoretically, totally cool with getting the kind of player he's sold as, but I can't get over the nagging feeling that there's an effort thing going in. I guess I'll look closer, maybe the clips I watched weren't a great example
Not sure he improves the run D all that much.As a player he improves pass rush and run defense. Don't think he falls and if he does (or Cross for that matter), why didn't we invite a 2nd/3rd Rd Guard to the 30 Visits (or did we and I missed it?)
Yup. Rainmann is a developmental player you take in the 5th.Perhaps they aren't planning to have day 2 picks if they decide to trade up? I want no part of a developmental player like Rainmann who is going to be 25 at the start of the season.
I wouldn't go that far, he is very talented, some team is going to take a chance on him in the 2nd rd, just hope it's not us.Yup. Rainmann is a developmental player you take in the 5th.
I agree somewhat. I think the Cowboys believe in their drafted players more the we do. If they feel an upgrade is there they will take it. They drafted Parsons because they saw a super star on the defensive end. They easily could have drafted Slater or moved down instead. The one thing about Jerry he will be looking to hit a home run on draft night. Not sure I agree about McGovern.......If they had any confidence in him as a LG, another position would be the main focus at 24.

I think so, but definitely not at 88. Some college tackles that are projected inside are in that 56 range-Kinnard, Rhyan, Salyer. We could add Ingram, but after this group, falls of a cliff. Can we trust getting a plug N play at 56........pretty sure the top 3-4 won't be there.
Zuerline just mocked him to us at 24. He is a veteran insider with legitimate connections. I hate that for the Cowboys, but teams always over draft Tackles, especially Left Tackles. Some will question his lack of length,/strength, but he has tremendous footwork and athletic abilities.4th?
