I don't want Flo to leave, but at the same time, I don't want to over pay him either and have the possibility for him to end up being dead weight on both the team and salary cap space. (Not likely, but you never know ala Rivera)

So JUST IN CASE Flo does depart, here is a guy who we can sign that I think would do an decent job at LT.

But before I give a name, I will compare his time in the NFL at LT to Flo's 4 Pro-Bowl seasons of 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007.

First and foremost, Average Sacks Given Up per year. (Big deal for LTs you know)
New Guy = 6.0
Flozell = 5.8

And just for fun, their Worse Years in sacks given up?
New Guy = 8.0
Flozell = 7.5 (did it twice in his Pro-Bowl years)

Not much difference as you can see. So it would not seem pass protecting will be much worse with the New Kid than it was with Flo. So it would be interesting to see that much, to say the least.

Second, Average False Starts per Year. (Since that is a major topic around Here)
New Guy = 9.0
Flozell = 7.3

Ya, that is not good. But let's face it, chances are Flo's replacement will not be as good as Flo, but again, we don't HAVE TO have a Pro-Bowl LT. Just a pretty good / reliable one.

My personal favorite, because I hate them, Holding Calls per Year.
New Guy = 1.7
Flozell = 2.5

Hey, the guy barely gives up more sacks than Flo, yet he has to hold less. Pretty good trade off if you ask me.

Average Penalties and Penalty Yardage per year.
New Guy = 11.0 and 65.3
Flozell = 10.0 and 63.8

So not a huge difference here. But this guy has had virtually no help his career playing next to what is basically NFL scrubs on the o-line with him and his QBs have been below par as well.

So if we could replace Flo with a guy who only gives up....
0.2 sacks more per year
1.0 total penalties more per year
1.5 total penalty yards more per year

Would it be worth it if we signed this new guy and it proves to cost us a lot less than what signing Flo would be?

You be the judge.

But here is the kicker.......

Most would dread the day it would happen. Why?

Because my friends, that is none other than Leonard Davis during his 3 years at LT during the 2004, 2005, and 2006 seasons for the Arizona Cardinals.

And just think, he had much less help and talent around him at AZ, AND, this is a big one, that was when he was playing at the enormous size of 370 lbs during his time at Arizona.

His playing weight at Dallas? 354 lbs. So that could only help him be the dominating offensive lineman he was meant to be. Plus he was NEVER as dominate in AZ as he was in Dallas, even when he played OG. I don't know why, but he sure stepped it up. But of course, moving from Arizona to a better team will do that to ya.

Just ask....
Thomas Jones
Kyle Vanden Bosch
Micheal Pittman
Corey Chavous
Simeon Rice

All in all, it's funny how facts differ from perception, ala Flozell "Leading the World in False Starts" (idiotic Madden). Yet Flo did not even lead his team in False Starts. Go Figure.

So there is your REALITY CHECK from none other than.......

Mrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Reaaaaaalllittyyyyyyyyy.

Reaaaaaaalllittyyyyyy.
