Possible Pick: Does Anyone Agree On Linderbaum?

I still haven’t seen 1 single reference to a particular time when Linderbaum struggled with bigger DT’s at Iowa. Seems to be a false narrative going around just because his measurables are 1” short and 8 pounds light.

Same with the narrative that short arms a death sentence for centers. Just not true…take a look at a list of the best 20 centers since the year 2000 and you’ll come up with 6 or 7 that have arms under 32”

Wasn't Mark Stepnoski undersized?
If he's Stepnoski-good, take him. We need help on the OL in the worst way.
From SI.com:
Mark Stepnoski did not fit the prototype for a center. At 6-2, 265 pounds, he was diminutive compared to his Pro Bowl peers of the era – Ray Donaldson (311 pounds), Kevin Mawae (289), Dermontti Dawson (288), Tony Mayberry (288), Tom Nalen (286) and Jeff Christy (285). A center needed bulk back then to stand in against all those 300-pound Pro Bowl defensive tackles like Cortez Kennedy, Chester McGlockton, Warren Sapp, Ted Washington and Bryant Young.

But Stepnoski’s strength was his blocking techniques. A two-time academic All-America at Pitt, he understood angles and leverage and used them to his advantage. He was a technician. Enough so that Stepnoski was one of two centers named to the NFL’s 1990 all-decade team.
---------------------------
But he was taken in the 3rd round and not in the 1st. Approx 20lbs lighter than his peers. Linderbaum at 300lbs would be 20-30lbs lighter than todays weights as well.
I would love Linderbaum in the 3rd.

Not at all. I don’t think there is a single center that weights 330. Even 320+ is an outlier. Most centers are between 300-315, give or take a couple of pounds

He's my pick at 24 if he's there. Ten years from now we won't care that we used a late first round pick on him.

I think a good amount people here agree he's the best choice and an easy pick.

But either Dallas doesn't want him, or they've successfully hid their interest for the first time.

that will be the first, generally we all know who they will take in the first RD but i dont even think i have heard a single peep about us liking him.

Peter King has been known to have insights into what the Cowboys might do and he mocked Linderbaum to them.
I hope he is gone before Dallas is on the clock. He is not the type of lineman that Dallas should draft. I prefer big, mean and smart. These smaller linemen that fits the zone blocking scheme are finesse linemen that have to depend on movement and doubles teams to be effective.

Go back and watch some game film of Phil Costa. It will show you that T-Rex arms is a huge liability. Dallas made a huge upgrade when they drafted Frederick. The Oline immediately improved 100% when Frederick took over.

Lol Phil Costa was an undrafted scrub who was quickly out of the league. He had worse downfalls than short arms. Of course Frederick improved the o-line as a 1st round pick.

Kevin Mawae, Olin Kruetz, Jeff Saturday, Nick Mangold, Alex Mack, and Dan Koppen. All C’s with arms under 32”. A lot of pro-bowls there, dont know how they managed with their t-Rex arms tho…

It was a combo of short arms, bad technique, and a weaker lower body. A trifecta! One of the worst player evals in cowboy history. He was our opening day starting center in 2011.

he would be a pick only if the board is wiped out i would take a 2nd round guard after him to one with size and a nasty disposition
