Any chance that the Cowboys are planning ahead by not picking up FAs so they can get several comp picks next year?

They've shown the ability to draft well late in the draft. Actually, they've drafted really well overall lately.

Unless we sign Hardy and keep Murray, we will get some nice comp pics next for Murray and Parnell.

Why would we go build through the draft when we were so close last year? Thats a bad idea

People use this let's build to the draft stuff, when their owner won't spend any mother on the best Free-Agents anymore. Jerry has to be one happy owner. he has the support of the local media and the fans to not spend his money. he has to like this.meanwhile it may all backfire this year.

I can't see Will McClay thinking that way....Jerry either for that matter.

Part of the reason they were "so close" was because they valued the draft.

Spending tons of cap room on free agent CB flops and trading multiple picks for an equal CB flop and paying every Tom, Dick and Harry after a good season got us 8-8.

Because you never stop building your team through the draft. Turnover is high in the NFL and every three years 80% or more of the roster is completely replaced even on the good teams.

The draft is the best way to maintain a talented cost controlled roster.

It's just the way vic is. I wouldn't sweat it. At least we didn't go 8-8 and have to listen to them carry on about it.

We skipped the void of the past 6 weeks being filled with talk of fire Redball and the drunk. GROZ types have been anxious for something to complain about.

Scratch that thinking Jed Collins will be in town tomorrow!

The scenario is:
Make offers to your guys that you feel are long-term values.

Wait out rush to sign guys first few days of FA.
Bring guys in toward end of week and see where market shakes out once the cracked out GMs are out of thew market.

Prepare for the draft.

Sign guys as the price comes in line with what you have for each slot.

Use the off-season to get guys ready to play.

I think there needs to be balance between drafting well, and adding FAs.

The Patriots draft well but they added Revis. Seattle has drafted well, and just added Graham.....

I want DM back and to sign Hardy. And I think that would be good....as long as Carr sticks around or we find an upgrade.

And right now, im not sure if any of those things happen......Its early....its early.

Building through the draft is a bad idea? Please tell me you're being sarcastic. It's hard to tell on the internet sometimes.

The guy who won the SB was a 70 year vet!!!
Sorry that was my attempt at obvious sarcasm.

Cheaper, younger talent is definitely the best way to go.
By the time you get to the playoffs there are no such things as rookies anymore.
