1a- CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Tennessee State

Dallas is very interested in drafting this kid and it's clear to see why. He's fast, tall and productive. Just think how great this guy is going to be with a strength and conditioning program under his belt with Coach Jurazek. He'll be our 3rd CB instantly and eventually take over for Anthony Henry.

1b- WR Devin Thomas, Michigan State
This pick is contingent upon if the Cowboys sign WR's Javon Walker or Randy Moss. Assuming Dallas doesn't pick up a WR in free agency, I can see us drafting a WR here, or trading down. Thomas may even be available in the 2nd round if we decide to trade down. As history has shown, it's almost a given that Jerry Jones will want to trade down some point in the draft, especially if the value isn't there at the pick. I would like to see Dallas finally draft a WR early because we simply don't have many needs. I'de rather get a game-breaker at WR rather than trade down and get some solid role players.

2- RB/KR Chris Johnson, East Carolina
Marion Barber is the man in Dallas. I would expect an average of about 20 carries a game for Barber. Johnson is the perfect compliment to Barber, in terms of breakaway speed. He's also a solid kick/punt returner.

3- DT Red Bryant, Texas A&M
I know Dallas' defensive line is stout, but I think Jay Ratliff's natural position is at defensive end. He's a good nose tackle, but I think he can be a great DE. Red Bryant would be a great replacement for Fergy as he's not known as a pass rusher but rather a great run stuffer. Tank Johnson isn't known for being great against the run, so another big body like Bryant wouldn't hurt at all. I look for Ratliff to beat out Spears at DE in training camp.

4- FB Peyton Hillis, Arkansas
Deon Anderson showed flashes last season and with the release of Oliver Hoyte, I would think FB would become somewhat of a need. I think Anderson has a bright future but do we really want to put all of our eggs in one basket with him? Maybe Hillis is the Moose replacement we've been looking for. Hillis also considered a fantastic receiver out of the backfield, which is what is needed in Garrett's offensive scheme.

5- OLB Curtis Johnson, Clark-Atlanta
It took me a while to figure out who backs up DeMarcus Ware. Actually, I'm still not really sure. I hope it wasn't Justin Rogers. Anyway, Curtis Johnson fits the mold of an outside linebacker in the 34. You can't have enough pass rushers in the 3-4.

6- QB Dennis Dixon, Oregon
I would love the Cowboys to draft him, possibly put him on the practice squad and "red-shirt" him his first year in the league.

7a- OG Robert Felton, Arkansas
Jerry drafted a Razorback! Well, Felton isn't McFadden but he helped lead the way for him. I don't see Joe Berger making it on the roster next season so depth at offensive guard is needed. Felton is a versatile player as well.

7b- CB Zack Bowman, Nebraska
Supposedly he's a first round talent who has injury concerns. If he gets healthy, this guy could be steal. He has good size and is a great special teamer. Getting rid of Reeves and Jones means we can't rely on Alan Ball to be our #4 CB. Bowman would provide some good competition for the #4 spot.

EDIT: I have Dallas giving a team their 6th in 09' (The Dallas pick, not Miami) to gain the extra 7th rounder this year.
Feel free to add thoughts! :star:

Do the 'Boys have two 6th rounders now? I thought we just swapped this years with the fish and added next years from the fish?

Interesting draft board. I have seen a couple draft boards showing the Cowboys drafting Dennis Dixon in the later rounds.

I remember in the beginning of the college season, Dennis was in the Heisman running until he got hurt. But what a steal he would be.

Devin Thomas? I can't recall watching him play last season. Although I have seen his name thrown around with the other bigger name WR's coming out of college. I myself would prefer Manningham or Jackson.

I am completely sold on Rodgers-Cromartie as one of our 1st picks. And by the looks of it, he will have to be our very first pick if we have any chance of getting a quality CB in this year's draft.

If we're selecting a WR at #28, I'd rather it be James Hardy.

LOVE the Dennis Dixon pick, if he's there.

Zack Bowman will be long gone before round seven, probably no later than four. I really Hope DRC slides to #22, but I just don't see it.

just a heads up you have us taking a razorback with the 4th round pick in hills. so this would make 2 ..

as for the mock i absolutley love it , just about every pick . i dont know much about the OLB johnson, but you can never have enough edge rushers and that's a good round to take a gamble.

I'd give this draft an A-. I'd do back flips if we get DRC in the first. Not at all wild about a 1 year wonder like Thomas. I'm not opposed to WR @ #28, but if guys like Hardy, Doucet, or Sweed are there, i'd take one of them, or better yet, trade down. Chris Johnson has become my pick if we stay at #61, nuff said. Absolutely LOVE the idea of drafting Red! Kudos on that pick! I was on the Schmitt wagon but Hillis is a more versatile player and a better runner IMO. If we can get him in the 4th I'd smile all the way to the bank! Don't know enough about the LB to comment. I love Dixon's skills, but to be honest after drafting a QB convert last year i don't see it, unless you actually think he can play QB in the NFL(i don't think he can). Either way, i don't see the sense in drafting another 3 year project QB that will have to be a WR in the NFL. Felton, meh, he's a G, and we can use one so OK. I'm a Huskers fan and know as much about this kid as anyone here i'd venture. His knees are a MAJOR concern, but he's a good kid and can play at the NFL level if he stays healthy from here on out. He might get drafted before this, but in the 7th he's more than worth the risk. If you would have had a different WR at #28 i would have given this draft an A.

DRC is making a Ware like rise and it doesn't appear he will be available at 22...

If the Patriots take a corner I fear there will be a run on them and not much left for us.

I like this draft and is hoping for DRC to be there when we pick at 22. Would love to trade our 2nd 1st rounder for additional picks or Roy Williams from Detroit. I think Devin Thomas will be a good Wr in the NFL if we could not work out a trade. Good job.

He'll be our 3rd CB instantly and eventually take over for Anthony Henry. We can only hope he is still there with #22, his stock just keeps rising. Antoine Cason may have to be the fallback.

1b- WR Devin Thomas, Michigan State

I would like to see Dallas finally draft a WR early because we simply don't have many needs. I'de rather get a game-breaker at WR rather than trade down and get some solid role players. Not bad. May want to take RB here if a WR is acquired in FA. Jamaal Charles is not just a complimentary back, but could handle the full time duties if anything happened to MB3.

2- RB/KR Chris Johnson, East Carolina
Marion Barber is the man in Dallas. I would expect an average of about 20 carries a game for Barber. Johnson is the perfect compliment to Barber, in terms of breakaway speed. He's also a solid kick/punt returner. See above. Would go WR here if above comes to pass. Manningham, Hardy or Bowman.

I look for Ratliff to beat out Spears at DE in training camp.Bryant has nice measurables but is not backed up by production. I would rather have a more athletic big body w/pass rush ability for Wade's one gap scheme. I would take Frank Okam here instead.

Luxury pick IMO. I would rather go Safety here. SS Josh Barnett or FS Quintin Demps. But if Dallas goes FB, I would prefer a complement to Anderson, either Owen Schmitt or Jerome Felton. Both lead block like runaway mack trucks. But choosing Hillis would not cause me consternation.
LOVE this pick. If he is gone, nab another under the radar OLB, Andy Studebaker of Wheaton. Same type of player, high intensity HUGE production but only small school experience. Studebaker is actually bigger and faster.

6- QB Dennis Dixon, Oregon
I would love the Cowboys to draft him, possibly put him on the practice squad and "red-shirt" him his first year in the league. Like the pick, but would rather go after him in UDFA if possible. He is too much of a project who will not see much playing time for years. But I am also biased and would love to get RS/RB/slot receiver Danny Woodhead Chadron State. He's got 4.37 speed and that "make you miss" ability in space. He racked up over 2,700 yards rushing in 2006. At worst he can be our Darren Sproles, at best.....Wes Welker.

7a- OG Robert Felton, Arkansas
Jerry drafted a Razorback! Well, Felton isn't McFadden but he helped lead the way for him. I don't see Joe Berger making it on the roster next season so depth at offensive guard is needed. Felton is a versatile player as well. Or Brandon Keith.

Jack Ikweguonu Wisconsin would also be a viable option here if Bowman is gone.

I love the picks and wouldnt' have a prblem with it at all!
Only two problems I see, Felton is more of a 4th-5th rounder range and will not last past round 5, and Bowman will not last past round 4, so scratch the idea of getting both of them with 7th round picks, just aint' happening!
If we can come away with Cromartie/Thomas/Johnson/Bryant with the top 4 picks, I'm all for it!

Devin Thomas?

big guy who goes about 6'2" 214 and can fly, 4.4 40

supposedly he's a very good route-runner w/ good hands, can definitely get deep, averaged 15 yards a catch, and hauled in 8 TDs in his 1st major college action, was a JC transfer

Exactly, big, sturdy, good hands, great route runner, and speed, no weakness in his game, the overall package you want in your W.R., only had ONE good year in college, but that was due for other reaosn I forgot, something with their Q.B. or something, he's a keeper and a future #1!

I love the positions you chose and where you chose them, but I think we could do better in the WR market.

But depending on who is available at 28, I wouldn't be too upset if this went down.
