Not bad.

But are we really going to start the season with our 3Ts being a rookie 2nd round pick and a kid in Hill who could barely get active all of last year?

That would scare me. At the very least, I'd like to see Collins back. I read a report on the top FA DTs and he wasn't even listed so maybe we can get him back relatively cheaply.

Thought about that, and I'd rather re-sign Collins, I just think this is a better way to get value out of the draft, so I built off that.

But I don't think having a rookie 3T matters much, so long as you're just asking them to penetrate. And I *think* this team is going to blitz a lot more, so those kind of reactive gap assignments shouldn't be an issue.

I saw some speculation that their might not be a big market for Collins. Could motivate him to come for a short term deal. I think if that happened it would have much effect on our draft plans, even early.

2nd round could be a great spot for a DT. I could see a WR run in the second pushing some tier 2 DT's to our spot

The way defenses usually key on Zeke I really liked this comment about Ruggs:

Overview
Ruggs' speed alone helps both the running and passing games because it forces safeties into more passive positioning.
He can work all three levels and his ability to turn slants and crossing routes into big gainers could make him the favorite gift under the tree for a quarterback and offense in need of an explosive weapon. He has quick, sure hands to handle off-target throws, but learning to release, separate and catch against physical NFL cornerbacks could require an adjustment period. He won't rack up the targets, but has explosive speed and talent to imprint on games with regularity.

OH yeah.. I don't view Ruggs as just a WR because he opens up the whole thing for everyone.

Teams will have to account for Ruggs on every single play.

Henry Ruggs is a space creator.

This is my thinking exactly. A guy with his kind of speed forces the defense to respect him even when they don't throw to him. Ruggs will be like DeSean Jackson without the injuries. I also think Ruggs has better hands than Jackson.

Combine Ruggs at WR, with Jarwin at TE and the speed of the offense increases significantly. Things will spread out and Zeke will have room to run.

It's something to think about and it would be bad news if he went to the Eagles. In the Super Bowl the way they were playing off Tyree Hill it seemed like the Chiefs could have run slants to him al the way down the field.

Basically the crux of it, and why I think speed is a major need for this offense. Jason Garrett was afraid of big plays, I don't think that will be true anymore, but Dallas doesn't have big play, downfield threats in this offense.

That DL is a nightmare, but not for opposing teams, for fans watching them get blown up by the run game
Woods and Hill starting? whoa

It's literally the same DL as last year, except Hill/Madabuike instead of Collins. They were a top-10 run defense soooo

Yeah, I really don't think the DL was that bad last year. Got a lot of pressure and was good against the run; CZ freaks out with CJ Anderson PTSD every time a back breaks a 5 yard carry, but we were top-third in rushing yardage and YPC allowed and that was with our LBs pretty much playing like trash.

to be fair, Future thinks WR and CB are the only positions on an NFL field

he wouldn’t know how to build a team if Belichick held his hand

I’m a fan of the FAs and the picks I just can’t get behind Ruggs in the 1st.

I’m sure he’ll go in the 1st, and maybe even before our pick, but I’m personally not a fan of the smaller speed WR as a top 20 pick.

I would love Karl Joseph as our SS him and Woods I think would be a good pairing although I do worry about the lack of length at the position.

I am becoming fonder and fonder of getting Lamb even if we have to trade up a few spots, but that depends on what we do with Cooper. I think that Cooper money could be invested better in multiple spots, but the next few days up to the start of FA will be interesting.

FA S market is loaded...love the idea of fixing that spot(s) before the draft.

I am not thrilled with the S in the draft, and this is a spot I am looking to address in FA.
DT is another position I am looking to address in FA because of the depth, and add one in the draft because I think there is good depth and quality depth there in the draft although only a few blue chippers.
TE this draft class another position I am addressing in FA, because this draft class is below average.
DE is a weak class, and re-signing Quinn should be a very high priority.

I am looking at strengths in the draft and addressing those there. WR, CB, DT. Heck if we move on from Cooper I have no problem investing that money in FA to solidify some needs and double up on WR and CB.

I think there are some above average options at TE in the 3-5th rounds and IMO it’s a very poor FA group at TE with maybe 3-4 decent guys. I agree though about WR, I don’t get why we’re interested in Cobb when the draft is so strong. Cooper is a little different but wouldn’t be against spending the Cooper money at DT in FA and getting a pairing like DJ Reader and Javan Hargrave.

Neither TE class is ideal, but I can invest in a better prospect at a different position for more value than to drafting a TE. I can go out in FA and sign one relatively inexpensively on a 1-2 year deal then draft one when the class is better.

This draft class is suited for teams who are needing a QB, WR, OT, and CB with the quality and depth. Coincidentally WR, and CB positions line up perfectly for us in order to do so and I'd have 0 problems if 4 or so of our first five picks we doubled down on those positions and invested money on players where there's weakness in the draft. This would be the premiss if Cooper and Jones are gone.

1st round prospects
Picks I'd consider at 17 in the double down scenario
Lamb WR
Juedy WR
Ruggs WR
Henderson CB
Trade back option
Mims WR
Jefferson WR
Fulton CB

2nd RD
Reagor WR
Igbinoghene CB
Jaylon Johnson CB
Tee Higgins WR
Trevon Diggs CB
Brandon Aiyuk WR
Damon Arnette CB

3rd RD
Michael Pittman WR
Chase Claypool WR
Troy Pride CB
Bryce Hall CB
Van Jefferson WR
Antonio Gadney-Golden

4th RD
Bryan Edwards WR
Devin Duverneay WR
Tyler Johnson WR

No particular order, but I would be happy with 2 of each.
Lamb
Diggs
Pride
Johnson

Would you feel totally awful if this was your draft if we could address DT, S, TE and depth across the depth chart?
