1st round #27- S Nate Allen, South Florida
I would love if Earl Thomas fell in our laps, but I don't see that happening. Obviously if Thomas is there, we draft him, but looking at this realistically, I see Jerry looking at the depth of offensive line, and going for those 2nd tiers of safeties.
2nd round #59- OG/OT Rodger Saffold, Indiana
He had a great combine, and is a smart, fluid athlete. He may have the ability to play tackle and will hopefully compete for the LG with Kosier.
3rd round #91- WR Demaryius Thomas, Georgia Tech
The Cowboys will look at their draft board, and go with a player they see high potential in. Teams will be scared off by his broken foot recently. However, Jerry believes WR's take time to develop. Incase Roy Williams is released next year (which is very possible), Thomas would have a year under his belt. The guy is a legitimate 1st round talent when healthy and focused. He's worth the risk.
4th round #123- Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, Indiana (PA)
We need a solid returner on punts and kickoffs, and this man fits the bill. Great special teams player, and also fits the mold of the Dallas cornerback. Over six feet tall and seriously, his name means "Born on Sunday." He needs to be a Cowboy just because of that.
6th round #187- G/C Eric Olson, Notre Dame
Has the ability to play center or guard. He's the player to finally knock Proctor off the team for good.
7th round #219- DE Greg Middleton, Indiana
A possible sleeper here. He can push Bowen and Hatcher in camp, and could possible slide inside to spell Ratliff at 285 pounds. Seems like a versatile kid.
There's my day 1 combine mock. Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?
