19.) Rashaan Evans, ILB, Alabama
Really on the fence here regarding which ILB to take. Vander Esch should be in play, as well as Calvin Ridley and DJ Moore.
50.) Courtland Sutton, WR, Southern Methodist
With Dez being released, I'm almost certain that we will take a WR here. Could be a number of different ones, but I think Sutton will be the pick.
81.) Nathan Shepard, DT, Fort Hayes St.
This pick could be a linemen. I think at least prior to the Dez release, we had a bit more flexibility on the second pick and could take a linemen, and let CFleming walk next year with the rookie starting in year 2. So if one of our round 2 prospects fall here, we could push o-line further down the list.
116.) Nyheim Hines, RB, NC State
I think upgrading the speed on offense has been one of our biggest needs the last several years, and Hines certainly fits that.
137.) Malik Jefferson, LB, Texas
Really need to double up on LBs, because this very well could be Lee's final year in Dallas. Would give up a pretty good core going forward.
171.) Deshon Elliott, S, Texas
Not an elite athlete, but he has a nose for the football.
192.) Darius Phillips, CB, Western Michigan
Same as Elliott, average athlete, but has a nose for the football
193.) Brandon Parker, OT, NC A&T
A lot of upside here, but we would certainly need to sign another vet after the draft. Sam Young, Eric Winston, ect.
208.) Justin Jones, DT, NC State
Meh...

I like this draft especially the first 4 picks. Give me Darius Leonard over Jefferson and it would be even better. I like that Leonard kid from what I read of him.

Pretty good draft except I dont think we need a RB at #4. Give me a good safety here and I'll be very happy with this draft.

MWTP, I like it!!! Except, I would much rather take DJ Chark as WR @ #50 over Courtland Sutton. I don't believe LB Malik Jefferson will last until pick #137, so I would take him @ #116 since I don't believe a backup speedy RB is of need since we have one in our practice squad and can easily find another undrafted one. Also, since recommending to pick Malik @ #116, I still believe we need another LB, hence I would take LB Jack Cichy @ #137 since I believe he is going to be very good once he fully heals from his ACL injury.

Nice draft, I believe we will take LVE at 19 however and I can't imagine Sutton lasting to 50.

Is Sutton really in danger of dropping to #50? Seen him as high as the top 16 all the way to top of the 2nd round.

You don't trust our coaching staff to help him with his route running?

Weaknesses
  • Play speed feels non-threatening
  • Faster cornerbacks squat on routes and consistently contest his catches
  • Route wiggle is average and feel gradual rather than sharp
  • Has tendency to coast by on size and scheme over pattern effort and technique
  • Defaults to bodying smaller cornerbacks rather than working for cleaner windows
  • Doesn't show much separation burst on first and second levels
  • Inconsistent ball skills when adjusting late to throws
  • Won't scare defenses with catch-and-run
  • Can't get it cranked back up for yards after catch if he has to slow feet
  • Struggled to get anything going against quality competition like TCU and UCF

I think these bolded weaknesses outweight his positives.

Now my thought is you find Williams replacement in this draft. Anthony Miller.

Then next off season you get the stud #1 via FA or the draft. Because this team cannot afford to throw a 1 at a WR. They need to be making a move for LB with Lee's age. Also with the terrible run defense they've shown. The middle of the field on defense should be a priority with the first pick. You can get a truly terrific WR in the second with Miller.

And, Miller is one inch shorter than Ridley. Plus he has put on weight and retained his speed. Watch this interview.

My belief, and i do not claim to be an expert. Miller is the better choice for this team. He gets open, He catches everything but a cold. He's tough. And has a work ethic more like Irvin than Dez.

My opinions are subject to be wrong.

I like Sutton potential
But I think miller would be a great fit if they want a quick pass game and he is great with the ball in his hands
