One OL man and no DL?? What is wrong with the Cowboy head shop? Maybe that's the problem, they are a head case! Maybe we should not on their head and see if anyone is home!

That's actually a very, very good offensive line if it works out that way.

I'd rather keep Frederick at LG for his rookie year, roll with Costa one more year at center, and stick with Bernadeau or Leary at right guard. Make Leary and Bernadeau fight it out in training camp. Clabo should be the RT.

Hopefully...

Risen Star;5069761 said:My point was even if Frederick plays either G spot, Livings is your other G. He's better than Bernadeau, IMO. But Bernadeau would then become your best option to back up C or G. So I don't see why the Cowboys would release him.
Had we gotten another player in the draft, maybe one of those guys becomes expendable. We didn't.
TheSport78;5069792 said:Maybe, but I believe there's a reason why they re-structured Bernadeau's contract and not Livings.
Could be that Bernadeau is younger, has more upside, can play guard and center, and may be a better fit in Callahan's scheme over Livings. Just my two cents.

CowboyFan74;5069645 said:I still believe everybody is coming back healthy and the O-line will look better than most think, especially the free agent veteran guards (Livings & Bernadeau) that we just got last year. Nobody is talking about all the injuries we had on the o-line, mind boggling to me....
O-line Starters:
Tyron Smith-LT
Nate Livings-LG
Fredrick-Center
Bernadeau-RG
Free Agent-RT
Current Backups: Costa, Kowalski, Leary, Parnell, Cook, Dockery, Free, Weems, Arkin
Guys getting cut: Free, Cook, Weems, Arkin, Costa
Guys getting cut Option 2: Kowalski, Leary, Dockery, Arkin, Parnell
Rack Bauer;5069798 said:OK people need to stop with the "Better fit in Callahan's scheme" bit. If that were an issue, Frederick wouldn't be on the team.
TheSport78;5069815 said:The center position is different, man. You can hide the athletic deficiencies of a center, but with guards having to pull and get out in space, it's a different story.
You watched the games last year. LIVINGS CAN'T PULL. He belongs in Pittsburgh or something.
Rack Bauer;5069828 said:It is NOT different in a zone blocking Scheme. If we were a predominantly sweep/trapping team I'd agree with you. But in a ZBS ALL 5 OL (and TE's) are blocking an area, not a man. Hell, a ZBS is better/easier for LESS athletic lineman in that they don't have to navigate through the "Trash" to get to the second level like they do in a man scheme. They just go to their zone and if someone is in it, they block that person. IF someone is NOT in it, they go to the second level (that's a very simplified explanation but you understand what I'm getting at).
Now... ANY scheme an benefit from an athletic/quick G or C, but a ZBS doesn't "Require" the OL to be athletic/quick.
