As we get closer and closer to the draft, my confidence in getting one of the players i want at 27(Gurley, Brown, Dupree, KJ, Gordon) has faded away. And the BPA sitting at 27 is most likely Marcus Peters. I don't think he is a scheme fit and we don't need a 3rd CB that cant play in a zone heavy scheme, but I can see some of the 3-4 scheme teams looking at him as a great fit. The team to target is the Titans. They most likely take the best D lineman Leonard Williams and offering the chance to take potentially the best corner in this class as well could be enough to get us there 2nd and 3rd picks.
2nd round 33rd pick- P.J. Williams CB, Florida State
Some may be against this pick(heck most might) but he seems like the best fit corner in this draft for us. He's physical and aggressive in press, great in man coverage, and one of the best in this years class in off man play. His timing and ball skills are outstanding and has the instincts and awareness to be a play maker. He is compared to the long time standout zone defender Charles Tillman.
2nd round 60th pick- Tevin Coleman RB, Indiana
I want Gurley real bad but i like Coleman as well. A workhorse back that has many of the same qualities as Murry. I actually hear people keep saying he is Murry with the speed to really punish defenses. Pair that with this O Line and we are on our way to the Superbowl.
3rd round 66th pick- Cedric Ogbuehi OT, Texas A&M
Quick footed and very gifted athlete that can easily handle the speed of edge rushers in the NFL. He should go much higher but with his injury that will keep him out till August and scouts worried about his strength i can see him falling this far. Other teams might be turned off to take him this early but we shouldn't be. With Free back to start at RT we have the luxury to take Ogbuehi and let him fully heal and spend his rookie season getting stronger and develop his technique.
3rd round 91st pick- Grady Jarrett DT, Clemson
An undersized but very powerful 1 tech with disruptive pass rushing ability. I really like this player and if he was taller and had a longer wingspan he would go much higher. Rod would love him in the interior next to Crawford. Just a perfect fit.
4th round 127th pick- Markus Golden DE, Missouri
Was once constantly being mocked as our pick at 27 has really fallen after it was found out about his short arm length. I keep seeing people comparing him to former Missouri end Michael Sam but looking at the pro day and combine numbers it seems he is all around more athletic then Sam. Has a high motor, very tough, and shows good awareness to be effective as a run stopper. A depth player at LDE and some even think he should bulk up and move inside as a 3 tech tackle.
5th round 163rd pick- Taiwan Jones ILB, Michigan State
A physical, tough, hard hitting linebacker. Has good size at 6'3" 245 lbs. Looked at as a 2 down thumper and even compared to Brandon Spikes but after his pro day and combine showing some think he is athletic enough that he can be good enough in coverage to be a 3 down backer after a couple years of development.
7th round 263rd pick- Chris Hackett FS, TCU
Lanky and thin framed safety with the ball skills to be play maker at the next level. His combine numbers was a buzz kill (as was for many TCU players) and dropped him to a potential UDFA but after his pro day numbers he seems he has enough speed to warrant one of our 7th round picks. Could be a big time steal.
7th round 243rd pick- Jarvis Harrison OG, Texas A&M
Has high end starter potential in the NFL but has fallen off draft boards due to character problems. Nothing that has to do with problems with the law but doesn't seem that football is his love. Has been reported that basketball is his passion. But as some on here has pointed out that we have the locker room and leadership on the O line to keep him in line and get the best out of him. Could be an upgrade over leary or at least insurance in case Learys knee doesn't hold up or he walks looking for a his payday like Parnell just did.
UDFA
Andre Debose WR, Florida- Is being looked at as Devin Hester was when coming out of Miami. No real postion. looked at as purely a special teams player. Our KR/PR replacement.
Wil Baumann P, N.C. State- We really need a new punter. Loomis would be a great get but i dont think he even makes it to our 1st pick in the 7th. Baumann has a good leg, great hang time, as is quick to get the punt off. Worth a camp invite at least.
