I'm glad we are 9-1...our offense did some good things in the 2nd half after basically sleep walking through the first half...
1) what a yr TO is having...and everyone knws he is going to get the ball, and still cant stop him...it reminds me of 95 some offensively...we had Irvin and Novecek to catch the ball...Kevin Williams went 15 games of that season w/o catching a TD...everyone knew Irvin was going to get the ball, and couldnt stop him...TO is beating man coverage...he beats zone coverage...he beats double coverage...and he is catching everything throw his way...I admit I was one of the ones who didnt want to sign him, but he has been a tremendous addition to the team
2) seems its an every week thing, Romo ultimately has a great game but has those two or three plays where you just cringe...one thing I've noticed is he's gotten so good at throwing on the run, that on some plays its a detriment because he COULD take off and run, but instead wants to wait and find someone breaking open...its not a huge thing, but there were a couple of plays where had he ran today we might have converted another 3rd down or two
3) hats off to the Skins...they played probably their best game of the yr in our house, and this coming off a devastating 4th qtr blown lead at home vs Philly
4) Jason Witten is definitely the man...the guy catches everything regardless of what kind of hits he takes...and he takes some BIG hits
5) D-Ware and Newman are elite players...the other 9 spots all blew today...what a horid display of pass defense...they were missing 2 or 3 starting OL, and other than Ware nobody really got close to Campbell...they avoided Newman for almost the entire game with tremendous succes, and then he makes a game saving pick...also broke up a pass on their final series...that was not an easy pick Newman got, it had some smoke on it
6) have to say I was pretty disappointed in our OL today...after several weeks of nearly flawless play, they kinda stunk today...we had two or three decent run plays the entire game, and the pass blocking was even shoddy mroe than usual...they they laid down completely on our next to last posession giving up a negative run play and a sack on back to back plays
7) our kickoff coverage is just plain awful...there is no other way to describe it...its disgusting...one thing I noticed today in the 2nd half was they put RW back out on kick coverages...if he had been on them before I had not noticed it...he used to be in on all the kick/punt coverage units, but I am pretty sure he had been taken off them...I suspect we may see some other changes too
8) it might not be a bad idea to go find the strongest leg kicker left out there, and sign him as a kickoff specialist...its not that Folk sux at kickoffs, but with the coverage being as bad as it is maybe we need someone who gives us chances for touchbacks...does it suck to waste a spot on a 2nd kicker? yeah sure...but would it suck even more to lose a playoff game or super bowl because guys are breaking long ones left and right, damn straight
9) best plays of the game probably lost in the shuffle...1) Gibbs settling for a FG attempt on 4th and less than 1 early in the game, after they had been having success running on us...2) the challenge of the pick in the 3rd qtr...3) RW's tackle on Cooley forcing a rare punt (and they were on our side of the field again)...4) Adams RETURNING to the game after suffering what appeared to be a serious knee injury...we'd have probably lost the GAME without the challenge, but the SEASON could have been lost if Adams would have been gone..for such a large guy, he must have really good flexibility in his legs because he gets rolled up on alot and it always looks bad, but somehow he is usually ok
10) they better not take the Jets lightly...it could easily be a trap game, but the Jets have been in every game this yr except the loss to the Pats and they beat Pittsburgh today...a loss to the Jets at home would definitely put a damper on an otherwise great month
