9) Brad Johnson is going to get destroyed next weekend. I watched alot of the Giants/Steelers game and the 4th qtr domination by the Giants front 7 was very impressive. They rush the passer better than any team in football, and our OL is really struggling. This is another reason why todays win was so huge and why last weekends loss was so bad. I really didnt think we'd win today, but I absolutely see very few ways we could win in NY next weekend. Our offense is stuck in the mud with Johnson at QB, he is no threat to get the ball downfield we cant run the ball consistently and our defense cant force turnovers.
there's always a chance plaxico goes postal and kills them all.

Let's also give the TB defense some credit.

I'm not saying Brad wasn't bad in missing open receivers, but if he improves as much this week as he did last week, and if the defense plays as inspired and agressive, then I do think we have a chance to keep the NYG game close.

The Giants offense has been struggling for the past 3-4 weeks, and if we can stop their running game (a huge task), we will have a chance.

Tidbit: We scored only 10 points in the first half against TB, but that 10 points was the most points scored on them in the first half all year, through 8 games. That says a great deal about their defense and their offense not turning the ball over.

The big post game thought for me was why in h3ll was our DC jumping up and down after the game like it was "his" defense that finally stepped up?!? Lol. Wade says he is going to step in, the Defense finally clicks, and he think it was him?

t's a win, thats the best thing you can say about it. It was a huge win. It obviously wasnt pretty but its probably the best we can hope for with Johnson at QB.
Agreed.
1) For those bashing Jason Garrett you need to go back and watch this game again. We had guys open all over the place, it was just a classic case of a QB being unable to deliver the ball. Even most of his completed passes were poor throws. Further, I dont see how anyone can complain about a 3rd and 14draw play when the QB can barely throw the ball 15 yds to begin with. Once we get Romo back healthy, RW, Owens, Crayton, Austin, Witten and Bennett are going to cause alot of problems IF the OL will get its act together.
I want to see more underneath routes more slants more drags more crossing routes. Until he does more of that stuff and stop relying on vertical routes he deserves to be thrown under the bus.....it's even worse when everyone knows the QB can't throw deep and he still calling these vertical routes....
2) If somebody had told me we'd score only one td, be held to 172 yds of total offense and force no turnovers, I'd say thats a sure recipe for a blowout loss, yet we won the game. Tampa's gotta be wondering how they lost on the plane ride home.
Agreed.....our D stepped up for the first time in about 3 years.....

3) I think I read they had 6 drives start in our territory and they managed only 3 FG's..outstanding defense, especially vs the run. Tampa came in 8th in the league in total offense, 9th in rushing offense and was averaging 23.0 pts per game. We held them way under all those averages.
D did a great job !!!!!!!!

4) Time for Henry to hit the glue factory I think. The difference in speed between him, Jenkins, Scandrick and Ball is VERY noticeable. The pass coverage seemed better to me after Henry went out with his injury.
Scandrick was balling Jenkins i'm not sold on yet.....he needs to learn how to tackle better.....
5) Boy was Brad Johnson awful. After 3 straight 3 and outs I really thought Bollinger was coming in, as he had his helmet actually ON at one point
Brad needs to go the way of Old Yeller
6) Great catch by Roy Williams for the TD, one of the few passes Johnson actually threw ok. RW also had a great catch on the ball he was interfered on. He was constantly open, as were a number of our other guys. I think it was Austin who was wide open down the seem for an easy TD when Johnson instead dumped the ball off to Barber for a 1yd gain. Johnson also badly underthrew Curtis on a ball that was nearly picked, and that would have been an easy TD.
RW is a beast OMG this guy is a freak of an athlete I think it's clear who got the better end of the trade!!!!!!!! I can't wait till Romo gets back!!!
7) Our draft class is looking pretty damn good IMO. Jenkins and Scandrick both look like outstanding CB prospects. Felix Jones is already a major weapon, and Martellus Bennett is going to be extremely good. Tashard Choice is icing on the cake.
Jenkins needs to tackle better.....Scandrick is doing really good can't wait for Felix to be back and Bennett and Choice I hope they contribute more.
8) Nick Folk is simply one of our best late rd picks in recent memory, maybe ever.
Nick Folk is :money:
9) Brad Johnson is going to get destroyed next weekend. I watched alot of the Giants/Steelers game and the 4th qtr domination by the Giants front 7 was very impressive. Our offense is stuck in the mud with Johnson at QB, he is no threat to get the ball downfield we cant run the ball consistently and our defense cant force turnovers.

I thought Brad would be destroyed against Tampa we will just have to see....the giants didn't look to stellar against the Steelers on offense so maybe the D could step up huge again....another Eli implosion wouldn't hurt either

10) By the way, the 172 total yards of offense was the lowest in franchise history for a win. Next lowest according to DMN was a win vs Cleveland in 1970 where we gained 174 yds.
11) I cant figure out which stat is more unbelievable. The fact our team defense has a horrendous 2 picks in 8 games, or the fact that Jason campbell has NONE in 8 games.

No risk no rewards....our defense doesn't take a lot of risk so we aren't going to get a lot of rewards just like Campbell doesn't have that many TD....low risk low rewards.....
Huge win today. Ugly, but it was much needed. If we can just get guys healthy and get the defense and OL to play consistent, maybe we can still make a run.

Ugly win but a huge win cause brad was our QB who woulda thunk we would win with Brad as our QB

Exactly what the doctor ordered. While Henry has been disappointing this year, Ball has never impressed me until yesterday, so I will take a wait and see approach on that one. The one thing that can be said is, the defense played amazing yesterday considering we were missing our #1, #2 and #3 corners, plus our starting strong safety. 4/5 of the secondary was missing and Tampa didn't score a TD. Just think about that. Also, as they said pregame, that was the healthiest the Bucs have been on offense this season.

The Giants game will be a huge task without Romo, BUT, the Giants aren't exactly juggernauts on offense. IF our defense can play as good as they did against the Bucs, anything is possible. Brad Johnson is obviously playing his last year in big D, and most likely his last year in the NFL. Hopefully Bollinger will improve as the season progresses, but either way we need a young developmental QB sooner rather than later.

I respectfully disagree with Brad getting destroyed next weekend. I think he is improving albeit not rapidly. No turnovers and he operated within his realm of short drop off passes. He kept his cool.

He'll continue to shake off the rust and we will beat the Giants.

Hmmm. I hope you are right, but I don't see it right now. It seems to me he is over compensating for his lack of arm strength and is sailing all of his passes high, even passes that are only 5-10 yards down field. His lack of mobility will be a HUGE issue against the GMen, especially with F. Adams blocking with 1 arm out there.

Could you imagine how bad Brad would look if he held on to the ball longer than he did with Flozell hurting? It would be just as bad as his pass attempts that are greater than 15 yards. Brad seems to know where he's at and what he can do. That's a big plus for Brad that will be complemented with better pass performance as he shakes off the rust. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm almost sure our offensive strategy will have plans for mostly short stuff. We're not going to be glamourous but we will win the game if our defense can step up.

I think this type of win is going to do this defense a world of good. The defense knew coming into the game that a heavy burden was being placed on them and they went out for 4qrts and played tough defense and was a big reason for the victory. I think a game like this is just what they needed to build their confidence

Good post... I'm not sure some people realize how good this Bucs team was.

And good to see you around, theo.
Not nearly as good as the team we face this week.

Well, no kidding. We'll likely lose next week with all our injuries, but that doesn't change the fact that yesterday was a very impressive win for us.
