No, but the cap hit would be much smaller on a long term deal.

That's the only thing I thought of, but I'm not sure it would matter. It's not like we didn't go out and get the best backup QB we could. Maybe he feels we would have spent that cap savings elsewhere, but the Joneses have shown that they don't believe in spending big on outside free agents. We would have seen the same team just with more cap money rolled over into next year.

And the fact that we have the ability to sign someone like Earl Thomas now to a sizable contract is proof of that. Over the cap has us at $23 million plus.
