1. Today.
O line - Pathetic performance by O line. Not sure Hudson has it any more, would have no problem if he was replaced. May be a bit harsh to judge the Oline with Adams out but if you are going to point a finger today, they main one has to be at the Oline. Flozell is an important and dominant piece of the O line, I hope we can finaly realize that after today....is he getting old? Yes, does he need to be replaced next year? Probably not, but we need to have his replacement ready to go soon, if that is Free (very possible) then great, if not, lets get someone.
Defense - Pass rush was horrendous. Where was Ware? Spears missing Favre in the back field for a sack was HUGE. Corners played a good game for the most part, you can not fault Jenkins or Sensabaugh much, IMO, for the touchdowns on them, but Favre had way too much time.
ST - Crayton is truley feast or famine on punt returns. The toss back on the kick off return was STUPID, STUPID, STUPID. Kicker...don't even need to say anything.
QB - Romo did not have his best game, it was mainly the O lines fault though. But at least one of those fumbles is inexcusable. The INT did not matter much but still another poor decision. Also, frustrating to see him hold the ball too long several times. All that being said Romo gets a pass today bc of the O line play. A game like this Romo could have stepped in and won it for us, IMO, he did not, on the other hand he did not have much to do with the loss.
Coaching - Wade's choices of when to go for it and when to kick the field goal were questionalbe at best. Got to wonder if he and other were not a bit too happy about last weeks win. Garret, not a bad game, but also have to wonder why Barber was in on some of the sweep plays...Garretts play calling has never been much of a problem with me (for the most part) but his personal management at times really makes you wonder. I saw him try and make some adjustments second half, but he did not stick with them, the game I guess did not allow that.
2. Offseason
1. QB - Set
2. RB - Set, keep Barber, but he is #3 for now, just an insurance chip if Choice or Jones go down, a very good insurance chip though.
3. WR - Set, Roy needs to work his butt off but I really think he will be fine (and I have been a big detractor of his this season)
4. TE - Set, I love Phillips, I would have no problem if Bennett was traded, Phillips looks very solid.
5. OL - Needs work, not sure what, new coach...probably. I think our first rounder definitely goes to this. We need to pick up a center somehow. Free is going to be a solid in the future.
1. NT - need someone to back up Rat
2. DE - Definitely need someone to spell Spencer and Ware occasionaly, we may have him on the roster, but they are both in need of some rotation.
3. LB - IMO, the weakest position on the field for us. If Brooking is gone we might be in trouble. Carpenter should be let go, definitely possible to upgrade there.
4. CB - Solid, say what you may about Newman he is still a Top 10 corner. Definitely need to start developing his replacement. Would not be suprised if he is down for a chunk of next season.
5. Safety - See you Hamlin.
KICKER KICKER KICKER
Coaches - Wade - I would love to see this guy win it all here next year and go out on top at the same time I would not mind one bit if he were let go. IMO, if there is a Dungy type out there (NOT COWHER) that wants to come here then bring him in and say thanks Wade. Wade is a very solid D coordinator, there is no doubt that we could get a better HC (not a better DC but a better HC). - Garrett - Would not mind him getting an oppurtunity somewhere else, would not mind him getting the HC job here, would mind him staying OC here. I have seen too many poor personel decisions by him, too many periods of stagnate offense performance where he gits in a funk and cant get out, and too many questionalbe play calls (although he has gotten better at it this season) ...All in all, IMO our best situation is if one or both of them are gone next year and they are replaced with someone with a good deal of experience.
3. Draft
Round 1. - OL
Round 2. - LB
Round 3. - CB
Round 4. - OL
Round 5. - LB
Round 6. - WR/QB
Round 7. - WR/QB
Would love to start see us pilling up some future draft picks. Trading Bennet, Barber, maybe a few others for some future picks (next year, not this year). I also thinnk you consider trading Newman, Choice, or perhaps even Jones if the price is high enough...
Just some random thoughts though...
All in all I love that we made it back to the playoffs and won. I don't expect a superbowl every year, I do expect this team to make the playoffs and compete every year.
