Yes they call that newbie gain. These guys have been lifting for years. Once you hit a certian spot it gets much harder to add. They also must be eating 7000 or 8000 calories per day.
Yeah I somewhat agree. I became a gym rat 4 1/2 years ago. I went from 160lbs to 195lbs in about 1 year of consistent lifting and proper dieting when I started. Right now I my weight ranges between 190-195 lbs. At 6'-2" thats an ideal height. I eat about 20 times my body weight in calories everyday.
I think AL Johnson doesn't have a hard time getting up to 300 plus lbs. The Cowboys have a great work-out program and Al Johnson makes enough money to hire a personal chef for dieting purposes. I think he just can't keep the weight on throughout an entire season.
Inorder for Al Johnson to play 300-310 lbs during the season, he has to get up to about 320 plus lbs. Training camp will take its toll because cardio and conditioning actually negates weight gain in "hard gainers" like Al Johnson. I am a hard gainer too, up until 4 years ago I was about 155lbs to 160lbs at 6'-2" thats skinny and if I miss more than 2 weeks of lifting I'll lose 10lbs easy. It must be wrose for a guy like Al Johnson who goes through a Parcells training camp and lives in the trenches for an entire season.
Anyway enough of my ramblings.......some really positive news I've heard
Chris Canty-----He'll play at a legit 300lbs this season. He wore down down the stretch last year, because he didn't get a full offseason of conditioning and weight training last offseason. I'll go out on a limb and predict ProBowl for Canty.
-Marcus Spears will lead or tie the team in sacks.
-Kevin Burnett has a Texas size chip on his shoulder. I think he'll come along faster than Bradie James did and have an excellent season in 2006.
-Andre Gurode........2nd year to grasp the offense at the
center
position. I think the tweaks in the system made by Palmer and Sparano will benefit Gurode whom already has an edge athletically over Al Johnson.
