I see everyone is already posting their mocks on what they would like the Cowboys to do. Just for fun post a mock that could realistically happen with a few players dropping. Nothing crazy either like Clowney as our 1st round pick, try to make it semi reasonable.
Round 1 Clinton Dix FS 6'1 208 lbs I think he will most likely be gone to St. Louis, but he could realistically be here when Dallas picks. He is the best FS in the draft and would solidify the weak secondary. We would no longer have to see Heath looking like a deer staring at headlights on national TV. I also expect Matt Johnson to do another year long impression of Peter Griffin grabbing his shin.
Round 2 Kelcy Quarles DT 6'3 298 lbs I still think he sneaks into the low 1st round, but most draft websites have him as a 2nd round pick. I think he fits the scheme much better than Tuitt and Hageman. He is a very fast DT and will explode at the combine. He is exactly the type of fast twitch athlete the Dline needs in the middle without sacrificing size.
Round 3 Kareem Martin DE 6'5 265 lbs Has the skill set of a 1st rounder and got 11 sacks this last college season. Not sure why he is rated so low as he compares very favorably to 1st rounders Kony Ealy and Trent Murphy. He didn't produce till his senior year so that could be why he is rated so low. He is very tall, very lean, very strong, and very fast. He would really produce in this style of defense at the weakside defensive end.
Round 4 Caraun Reid DT 6'2 305 lbs This guy is very big, very strong, and extremely fast. He has commanded double teams at Princeton all year long. He would be slightly undersized as the 1 tech, but he could rotate with Hayden to keep them both fresh. This guy compares very favorably to Quarles athletically but is a lot stronger. This is the type of Dlineman that Maranelli prefers as the 1 tech. This was evident when Tampa Bay drafted Booger McFarland to play NT despite weighing 299 lbs.
Round 5 Max Bullough ILB 6'3 245 lbs This guy is very football smart and makes all the calls on the defense. He was recently suspended so there are character concerns, but the dude can play some football. A decent athlete like Sean Lee but has extreme football intelligence. Not very smart off the field though.
Round 6 Trey Millard FB 6'2 253 lbs The guys is a very versatile FB with some pop as a lead blocker. I usually don't like taking injured players even with low picks but this is the best FB you can get in the 6th round.
Round 7 Ryan Groy G 6-5 320 lbs. Like all Wisconsin lineman he is NFL ready. He isn't the best athlete but is very smart. Will make a very good backup in case something happens to Leary's knee. He has also played a little LT so that is a plus on game day.
Round 7 Russell Bodine C 6'3 310 lbs. Very big for a center and has played some guard as well. Can you think of how bad it would be to see Costa starting at center if Frederick gets hurt? Frederick has proven very durable though and Bodine has experience at guard. He will make excellent depth and can be used on game day to fill in as a C/G.
