Twitter: Postgame takeaway - RB2 is still up in the air

I knew you'd have a tough time with this being a Blue backer and all. Ah well.
Not really. I understand why both Blue and Mafah struggled the whole 1st Half. The 2nd string Oline sucked last night. They were coming off the ball too high, thus being pushed back and clogging up any potential running lanes.

It'll be okay. More opportunities will be there.

So Mafahs MO is that he runs to high and leaves himself susceptible to big hits. Now hes hurt, AGAIN.

Blues profile was that he fumbles a lot and didnt garner the trust from coaches to play more.

Sometimes guys are what they are.

Ive been saying keep an eye on Izzy. Ran a 4.45 and 1.48 10 yard split. Blue had a 1.50. Izzy is actually quicker and he weighs 217 lbs.

Not sure if its pass pro, fumbling, uncoachable, mental midget or what it is thats had him team hopping. But it isnt physical ability.

He needs starter reps here in ps. And from what little gets reported out from camp on him is that hes been having a good go of it.

Id roll with Izzy and Davis as the backups. With an eye on camp cuts.

Blue and Mafah both looked like RB3s to me.

Of course it didn't help that Run Blocking wasn't that great when they were in the game the first half.

Davis looked decent in the 2nd half but the Oline was getting good movement.

Don't feel good about the RB2 situation.
I agree but you're missing the person I'm putting up ahead of them Too early to tell but IsraelA

AKA Izzy.. I think he's at the best camp scrimmage and preseason game..

There were no holes when Blue was playing. Not sure what was going on but the oline was getting torched.

Yeah but I'm a Texas Longhorn fan I love Blue and he has a role on this team but it's gonna be as a change of pace guy They did use him the wrong way last night maybe they just trying to get him used to contact limit his fumbles he should have not been on in on 1st and 2nd downs on you know first and second and long they should have been putting Izzy in there more or Mafa should have started earlier..

Look right now Blue needs to be the change of pace guy however they want to work him in that's great I hope he makes a team but to me I think Israel the guy they're calling Izzy has done more in practice in scrimmages in in that game and I know it's hard to tell against backups with the offensive line or against the defenses that are all backups but to me I'm getting a vibe from this guy He's a big dude that can actually move He has moves..

Now you take Phil just got hurt There's no way if they needed a true backup to give Williams a rest not a change of pace guy that Blue can do that Davis coat maybe but I like Israel right now I'm putting my money on Izzy..

If nothing changes. Davis will be on the 53, and they could look for a RB on the waiver wire.
I was not impressed with Blue, nor Mafah.
I would use the depth at WR as trade bait...Mingo or or MVS could be possible trade bait....I would look at the Dolphins as a possible suitor. I like both Ollie Gordon and Jalyn Wright

It’s going to be an interesting battle going forward.

Best they could get would be a 6th or 7th.

Feels like they wanted JW, Mafah as a power back and Blue as a speed back for a threesome but Mafah is now injured and Blue gets 0 yards far too many carries. Malik has to be in the lead.

I liked Izzy coming out of college and wanted Dallas to grab him. IMO, coming out of college he was the best prospect out of him, Mafah and Blue. That's why he was taken the highest.

Based on what I am seeing, the Jets had a crowded RB room and he was eventually dumped for a player at a position they needed. He then spent time bouncing to the 49ers and the Packers, never getting up to even RB2. The only complaints I see about him are pass blocking. He seemed to do fine for the Jets in his last preseason:

2024 Preseason Stats
    • Carries: 21
    • Rushing Yards: 129
    • Yards Per Carry: 6.1
    • Longest Run: 45 yards (touchdown)
    • Rushing Touchdowns: 2
    • Accolades: Led all NFL running backs with a 90.4 PFF rushing grade for the preseason. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

I wouldn't get my hopes up on the Dolphins accepting that offer...
