I have my own expectations of Caleb Downs first season. None of them are associated with him winning Defensive Player of the Year as a rookie.

Troy Polamalu and Ed Reed did not accomplish that feat themselves. Not sure why anyone would. I believe Lawrence Taylor has been the only player to win the award as a rookie. And everyone was anticipating him doing so coming out of North Carolina.
