As we continue to look for free agent bargains, I see an opportunity to capitalize on the cap troubles of another NFC team. The New Orleans Saints are in all kinds of cap trouble and it appears they have decided not to tender RFA DT Tyrunn Walker.

He looks to be an emerging young player and looks to be a good fit for a Rod Marinelli-style defense.

He played well in limited opportunities for the Saints last year and has shown to be a pretty good pass rusher as well. I think he could be a nice add and potentially a player coming into his own in the NFL.

keep on looking in the bargain bin... There be gems in there!!!

And take advantage of other team's situations.

Like the Bills changing defenses and cutting Rivers loose, and now the Saints cap troubles causing them to lose a quality young player.

I agree on so many levels...No need to break the piggy bank when I think there are some good young players
that can help us win. No need to get problem children or guys that can't stay on other teams due to age
or declining play.

I thought we were the only team with cap problems...I read it here many times....

I can't say one way or the other, I don't know much about him. Thanks for the info to check out.

I think you can never kick to many tires. Don't know much about this guy but it never hurts to kick tires or turn over rocks.
Rod seems to have a knack for getting more out of players than other coaches do.

In Will McClay we trust. Let him work his magic and we'll be able to compete next year
and for years to come. We turned a corner with our FO so no need to go back to the
bad ole days!

DEFENSIVE LINE

Tyrunn Walker continued to be a preseason beast. I graded him higher than any player in this game. He has the type of frame (6 feet 3, 294 pounds), upper-body strength and heavy hands to fortify that role. He started off well in last year's preseason but injuries temporarily stunted his growth. He played 32 snaps and graded out defending the run better than anyone, Rams included. His third-quarter effort was especially good as he showed nice push in the passing game a couple of times.

Yes, McClay has been awesome. Jerry needs to keep him here for a very long time. He can find some gems.

is he just not a fit for the 3-4? The Saints would be stupid to let players like him go since they have such serious cap issues.

DE Tyrunn Walker 6' 3" 298 lbs

This guy immediately jumped out at me when I watched him on film. Interestingly, Walker is listed on the Tulsa team website at 265 lbs, which is in stark contrast to the 298 lbs he weighed at his pro day. I would imagine that this weight raised a few eyebrows, that is until he ran a 4.88 in the forty. I believe he is a poor man's Fletcher Cox at this point with potential to grow into something more. Like the highly gifted defensive tackle from Mississippi State, Walker could very well have all the tools to excel at all but one position(NT) on the defensive line in both 3-4 and 4-3 schemes. It is my opinion that he would be worth a 6th round pick.

This is how cash strapped they are:

"ESPN.com reports that the Saints aren’t planning to make a tender offer to the impending restricted free agent, although they would be open to a return at a price below the $1.54 million minimum tender."

They are literally trying to save every penny they can.

Send him in so Dane Brugler and Broaddus can give their evaluation on this morning's draft show on DC.com at 10am CDT.

That's unbelievable.

I don't know why. He had a great first year there and a down second year. Rod Marinelli oversaw the worst defense this team has even seen in 2013, another bad year in 2014 and everybody around here considers him God.

All he did was fight with Payton last year. That would do it for me.

That's what happens when you give Jairus Byrd $60M+.
