Depends on the item, in my opinion. I have a quality DeWalt Drill that I love dearly, but an impact driver that burned out in two months. Currently getting it repaired at the DeWalt Service Center. I did buy a Makita Impact at Home Depot for $99 this month and it's been stellar. Milwaukee Drills have served me well too in the past. Most of my saws are Makita as well and they have been awesome. I use my reciprocating saw to do all kinds of stuff around the house, including pruning trees and other things. My most used tool however, I paid $18.99 for at Harbor Freight. Just a small little oscillating tool from Chicago Electric. It sands, cuts, and all sorts of other stuff. Don't know where I'd be at in my home projects without it.
People sleep on the house brand at Home Depot as well. Ridgid delivers some quality products at an affordable price point.
