Two things that we need to be able to do next year to be successful one we need to be able to run the ball to we need to be able to stop the run. We need a vet DT

based on this win now mode. i think you see JJ and Stevie Go in FA:

RB
DT
ILB

This will allow Cowboys to take BPA at 24 for OT,WR,ILB,CB. then take BPA in 2nd and other rounds to fill out those need positions.

RB is easy to fill late in draft... but the 2 positions, i think that are the hardest to fill in Draft are QB and DT so many dont pan out and some you hit on that NO One thought of. LB could be 3rd on the hardest to fill.

either way we could have a come in and contribute and help NOW if we go FA RB / DT / ILB. then if we get OT in 1st and a CB in 2nd we will 2 needs with top talent. then Find a ILB in the 2nd or 3rd that can come in and contribute with Overshown and this Defense is remade. Or you Go with a young WR at 24 and get ride of CeeDee (not popular opinion)

but its going to require JJ to spend some money we literally dont have. JJ is going to have to get creative and put us in cap hell down the road to make this work and keep everyone together.

Grover Stewart is a person that some writers have suggest for the Cowboys. They said he is an underrated DT that is good at stopping the run and won’t cost much. He will be 30 but has plenty of good play left. Does anybody know anything about him or seen him play?

I don't think he's actually going to be cheap, but would be a really good fit. He's a good player.

The difference between him and someone like Hankins is that he's stout at the POA but he can also penetrate and shed blocks. The problem is that the ability to do so costs you like $12m lol

He’s a good option…basically a better version of Hanks at this point of his career. Honestly wouldn’t hurt i have them both as cheap as Hanks has been.

I have no clue what we’re going to get out of Mazi next year but wouldn’t bet on him being the answer.

I would emphasize trying to get 2 quality free agents that would immediately start, rather than dumpster dive for 4-5 jags - half of of whom will be cut in favor of late round and undrafted FAs. Wouldn't mind poaching both DT Madubaike and LB Patrick Queen from the Ravens.

We need a much deeper list than top 10 if we are discussing players the cowboys might sign. At this point expecting change in their philosophy is beyond the definition of insanity.

I'm probably shopping this list for a starting LBer, DE and maybe CB.

I would also consider one of the top 3 RBs on the list I could sign for under $8M
Don't forget DT. It's not optional anymore. This undersized defense can't function without a monster nose tackle, and they still don't have one.

I think Spotrac has him at around $4.6 million per season, and PFF has him at $10 million. You can usually get a pretty accurate prediction when you average the two together, so maybe closer to $7 million?

Imagine Connor Williams coming back.

Always thought his improvement here was ignored and he could be an upgrade at center this time around.

Is it? Generally over the last decade, RB's are found in rounds 2-4.

We don't have a 4th round pick. After the 3rd our next pick appears to be a comp. near the end of the 5th. Good luck waiting until the bottom of the 5th or later to find a quality RB.
