Practice Recap: DLaw setting sights high

Good to hear the offense beating some of our great defenders. Wilson defending Witten is a mismatch but great learning experience for the young rookie.

I think Cobb is going to really boost this offense, people will finally see that Beasley wasn't anything special and over hyped from the beginning.

Wow McGovern already practicing again that’s some good medicine.. I thought he’d been lost for the season with a torn pectoral...:omg:

I do think Cobb aility to make plays down the field will be the big differance. Working the underneith routs I think Beasley is a quality player but Cobb I think allows the offense to do some different things from the slot that Beasley couldn't

I look for Cobb and Kellen Moore to change up the predictable timing issues that have plagued this passing game in the past.

i can read the tea leaves and mccgovern is going to be IRed.

A lot of "IR to return" mentions, but I think they have to be on the initial 53 before they can then be moved to IR-return. That will likely require a few creative cuts/keeps.

Yes they need to be on the 53 first. If placed on it now, they are on it for the season. And has to be a long term injury to do so. Meaning 6 weeks or longer. I think that is the time frame at a minimum.

Plus Cobb can play outside, something else Beasley couldn't do.

If it's aggravated enough to take him out again, I think it's IR, no return, see you next year. Frustrating, but the rest obviously wasn't enough.

He was drafted as a next year player type anyway. He would have been inactive most likely unless injuries happened.

Perhaps, but that's certainly become the case now due to this injury. Now I just wonder if they shuffle the roster elsewhere so they can have McGovern potentially return later in the season or just redshirt him and IR him outright?

But they do not need to put him on the IR right away either. They could wait a few weeks, then make some moves. Say for when Quinn returns.

Then you're dumping another player to get you to 53.

But they may employ some creative roster moves to get young talents like McGovern and Jelks to IR without risking losing them. It was mentioned that you could cut a vested veteran like Alfred Morris with the agreement that it's just a formality to bringing him back. They did the same with the WR Thompson last year I believe.
