Practice squad

Me too. Freaky athletic with good size and power, finally healthy. Once I read up on him, I liked the pick. If we can keep him for next year, it will give a little padding to the option to let Lawrence walk.

Not even a thin layer of padding.

An outrage?

Bo was a 7th round pick who looked quite unimpressive most of the preseason. If he hadn't played for "Alabama" there wouldn't even be a discussion about him.

A lot of people seemed pretty hepped up on Bo. "He'll never make it to the PS", etc.

I figured a 7th round pick was next to certain to make it.

Interesting that only 39 cut players were picked up. I never knew it was so low. 1 per team.

Think any of the players picked up were 7th round rookies?
I bet a lot of those cut were. Probably more likely cut than kept.

The Cowboys have signed these players to their practice squad:

WR Dres Anderson, OT Jake Campos, RB Jordan Chunn, RB Darius Jackson, WR Lance Lenoir, CB Donovan Olumba, LB Kyle Queiro and DE Charles Tapper.

Two spots remain #cowboyswire

Sorry, I didn’t know how to post the link on Twitter by Nick Eatman. If the mods want to help me out, much appreciated

It's good to see we got Jackson, Tapper, and Lenoir back.

Bo is nothing but a name from a high profile program. In fact it's probably the only reason He even got drafted. He showed literally nothing in the preseason games.

Possibly less than nothing?

I think Dres has real potential.

He looked pretty polished and played with a nice energy.

He was a late camp addition, and he dealt with some very poor passes that I think had he come down with, he might have support on this board.

Everything else he snagged cleanly and looked like a quality WR ready for some PT.

Jordan Chunn? What a joke

Why? He’s definitely a surprise, but this is the practice squad, and sure thing players aren’t available for the PS. Chung actually looked good in the little bit he played preseason, albeit not against starting players.

Only 39 directly off of waivers.

I was surprised by Chunn but something to consider is that he is apparently a good receiver who could be a 3rd Down Back in time. Rod Smith did nothing as a rookie but developed on the PS, Chunn could too. And as average fans we didn't get to see his receiving skills in games, so it could be a factor.

This is Brugler's writeup on him, he had him rated as a UDFA:

SUMMARY: A two-star running back recruit out of Madison County, Jordan Chunn was a highly productive two-way player in high school, rushing for 2,229 yards and 43 total touchdowns as a senior to earn 4A Offensive Player of the Year honors. He contributed from the get-go at Troy until he shattered his right collarbone (Sept. 2015), taking a medical redshirt. Chunn’s best collegiate season came in 2016 with 1,288 rushing yards and 16 scores. He is a well-built workhorse back who shows the body fluidity to transition his momentum off his plant foot to cut-and-go. Despite his size, Chunn tends to concede too easily as a runner with too many solo tacklers getting him on the ground. His 10 career fumbles stick out like a sore thumb. He missed playing time as a senior due to a laceration on his right leg, which required 18 stiches, and durability is a question mark. Overall, Chunn is a “what you see is what you get” runner, but has a chance to find a third-down role.

Bo will play at the nfl level eventually. Don’t know why people keep ragging on him

I've got to admit, after all the hype on him l expected to see a much better player than what I saw. From what l had heard l expected to see people jumping out of his way to avoid being run over. He looked like he was running in sand to me and was taking more hits than he was giving...
Well, I'll admit. I was a huge Bo supporter. I thought he could be a one-cut back who saw a whole and exploded through it.
But the one thing Bo could not overcome was injuries. He had a hip injury in preseason too. The guy just can't stay healthy, which was his problem at Alabama.
Once he got the hip pointer in the next to the last preseason game, I saw the handwriting on the wall.
He's just not healthy enough for the NFL.

Keep in mind that vested veterans that were cut do not go through waivers. If a team signs Dan Bailey that does not show up as a waiver claim.

If all teams claimed 2 players then it would be 64 total. The 39 number seems a bit low (1.2 per team).

No safety. No interior OL

The TE entry signed two interior O-Linemen, and I assume they don’t expect Fred to be out all year. Plus Fleming as some NFL experience in the interior. Safety depth is still a bit of a concern though.

The discussion was about Bo, therefore the waiver wire is what was relevant.

39 seemed low to me too, and I thought we were safe cutting Bo. Everybody, including me, and you, overestimates the actual number of guys who get picked up on the waiver wire on final cuts. We think it's much more likely to get picked up than it actually is.
